Early Release...

After much thought, I have decided that the PDF version of Zero Dark is going to be released today!  You guys are getting first notice, but it's not like there will be limited stock.

The PDF will be discounted from its normal price of £15 to £10 for as long as takes for me to get the POD version approved.

Now, obviously, I'd love to offer Patrons a discount or even, in some cases, a free copy.  But I do need to ensure that the product is watermarked, which I can only get via Wargame Vault, and they don't offer vouchers for specific products, as far as I can work out (if you know different, let me know).  Also, quite a few of you have specifically told me that you want to buy the game rather than get freebies.  This is, I think, one way in which Patreon stands in positive contrast to Kickstarter, where investment seems largely to be made on the basis of "what do I get out of it?"

With that in mind, by the way, I've decided to back a Patreon campaign, myself, but as this feels a little bit like taking a tiny percentage your patronage of Precinct Omega and giving it to someone else, I thought I'd justify my decision a little:

1.  I wanted to see the Patreon experience from the perspective of the patron to better understand what you guys see, and how interactions feel from the other side of the dialogue.  This will hopefully make things better for you in the long run.

2.  This is an artist I truly admire and think deserves patronage.  You already know him from the Zero Dark cover art.  It's David Sondered!

3.  Patronage gives me some discounts on commissions and I plan to make more use of David in the future!

So, all round, a good investment.

Going back to the Zero Dark release, however, once the POD version is available I will, of course, be buying a stock of books for my own use and sale.  If, by the time the book is available, your lifetime support of Precinct Omega's Patreon has been $50 or more, you will get a signed, dedicated copy of Zero Dark.  You will also receive, as a gift, one of the miniatures that features in the book, starting with those who backed the longest and going until I run out of miniatures.

You can, of course, buy a copy of your own to save waiting for it to turn up, and then you'll have two and you can give one of them to a friend to persuade them to play, too.

If your lifetime support has been between $30 and $48, you'll be able to buy a copy from me, if you want to, for £10 (UK-based patrons) or £12 (international patrons).  That's a discount of 50%, plus free or heavily-discounted postage.

If your lifetime support has been between $20 and $28, you'll be able to buy a copy form me, if you want to, for £13 plus postage.  That's basically "at cost" for me.

Everyone who buys a copy from me (plus the $50+) guys will be entered into a raffle for a custom hero team.  That is, you and I will have a chat about the heroes you'd like to have in a team, with their upgrades and suchlike, and what minis you think would represent those heroes best.  I will procure and paint those heroes for you, up to a maximum of 5 minis, including allies.  Only caveat is that the minis must be available singly and not be out of production.  You can include other minis, but the job of procurement will be yours.  There's no explicit ceiling on how much these can cost, but if you want a mini that's only cast in platinum, with diamond details, I reserve the right to tell you to substitute something more reasonable.

Also, I just won the Hammerhead 2020 "Best Sci-fi Unit or Warmachine 2020" prize, so you know I'm not too shabby with the brush. ;)

Finally, what with COVID-19 screwing up the world, there's a good chance my plans to go on holiday for most of April will not pan out.  Crap for me.  But potentially good for you, as I'll be going mad with making more video and podcast content.  If you have requests or suggestions, fling them here or via PM or to the usual email: precinctomega@gmail.com.

Stay safe, folks!
