Blue Collar Life
Added 2024-08-10 00:10:24 +0000 UTCIt totally makes sense now why construction workers can be so fat. I used to think, "How the hell can they be so big when they move so much?" Well, the answer is easy now. Between the long shifts and being so tired from the day, all I end up doing is plopping myself down with a nice big meal to make up for the day.
Being this big can make some things easier, and some things harder. One thing that's easy, people have a more innate trust to let me into their house to do the work. This porky, mustached fella looks too friendly and passive to do anything bad.
That's about where it ends with the pros. My size hinders some of my work duties. My work involves a lot of tight spaces in basements and crawlspaces, so in this case, the classic "plumber is too fat for under the sink" really applies. I am definitely slower to get through houses and crawlspaces compared to my slimmer colleagues, as well.
Ironically enough, when it comes to heat waves, the one other big crew member and I are the only ones to not complain about the heat and continue working. Guess these little twinks can't keep up with the big boys.
With that being said, I'll definitely be needing to get out of the blue collar life and into a more sedentary job eventually.
