Maru-Dashi Cosplay

Woah, this was from way back in 2017 when I was starting this shit xD This was one of my first character cosplays. And I think this was my first time making a Cosplay outfit. Not including my 17th birthday where I made myself a Ling Xiaoyu outfit, haha.

Making a cosplay outfit is so time consuming. This one in particular took forever. I had found pre-existing clothes and then cut/sewed/changed the clothes up to look like Maru's clothes. The wig though, holy shit dude. So I ordered a mint green/blue curled wig and then bought a whole bunch of white wool for the ponytails. I dyed them blue, and it got all over my hands (I used food coloring and water). They looked like smurf hands for almost a week.
I then used cardboard tubes for the extruded part of the ponytails and wrapped the wig hair around and hot glued it. Yes I burnt my hands (STOP LAUGHING AT ME) And finally i secured the wool hair inside the tubes. The wig was a tad unstable after the shoot so sadly I haven't been able to jam this outfit since. But hey, it was a cool experience to make a cosplay outfit on my own.

Back then, I had decided that it would be best to use my Tiger mask even in my character cosplays so that you can't see my face. I feel like I've outgrown that idea. I'm more open to showing my face now, although at the time I was on board with remaining anonymous. Of course my reasoning for that changing is justified to myself.

My sister helped me shoot this in the garage in my mum's old house. We put up some sheets and got out a lamp for that warm lighting coming from the side. Oh also I made that Mokona Plushie! As much as the cosplay would tell you, I'm a huge xxxHolic fan ;)
