2025-10-23 23:55:16 +0000 UTCTHANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ENGAGING WITH THIS ALBUM!!! i think their whole discography has that "hope in the face of terror" feel to it, even with songs where none of the lyrics allude to that hope. cause sometimes it just feels good to scream about how you're doomed and how you hate yourself, just to get it all out and move on. i think that's where the industrial sound of this album really helps too, since at times it can sound like throwing shit against the wall or banging on metal pipes (maybe not literally, but that's the picture it paints in my head). like a sonic rage room. "legacy" specifically is about devi's experience with a guy who practiced conversion therapy under the guise of being a queer psychiatric specialist. he was also discovered to be a sexual predator, as it happens. i think to me it relates generally to all the people in power who use their power to roll back entire communities' rights, because of whatever delusion they have lodged in their heads. it unfortunately feels especially relevant in 2025, with everything going on in the US right now - this whole album does.
