2025-10-07 03:26:32 +0000 UTCidk - i think ppl heard "showgirl" in the title and thought everything was going to be showgirl energy, but they forgot that it's "the LIFE of a showgirl" and all that happens after the big show is over - highlighting that "showgirls" are people too, actual regular real life human beings with complex feelings and lives. it's also interesting in the mv how she moves through different "showgirl" eras from the '20/'30s to 70s and up to move recent - and i've been thinking about how she uses so many pop influences throughout the decades in the album - we've got George Michael, The Jackson 5, 70s funk, 90s grunge/rock, 90s pop/r&b, doo-wop style harmonies (especially on Father Figure) . almost like it's a mosaic of pop music throughout the ages, kinda like that of the "showgirls", brought together on this album. idk it's just something i've been thinking about but don't have any real epiphany - but something is very intentional about all of it. If there's one thing we know about Taylor is that all her art, musically & visually, is intentional.
