I'm glad you watched the documentary (although "glad" seems like the wrong word but i don't know what else to us). Shout out to Jasmine for sponsoring it ๐ Objectively I thought it was extremely well done to capture who Amy was as a person & artist, and also show the forces pushing & pulling at Amy in and around her. โจ For myself personally, I haven't been able to watch it again since this first time I did many years ago. It's one of the few films/documentaries where I can still recall the emotion I felt, on a visceral level, after I first watched it. It's painful and heartbreaking ๐ But maybe this would be the safest & best place to revisit this documentary. Watching it here with you and your community feels right โค๏ธโ๐ฉน Thank you for sharing this with us Val! ๐

2025-09-06 13:16:40 +0000 UTCI watched it a few years ago and haven't watch it again until now, and it is still heartbreaking. We all watched a person begin for help in front of the whole world and all they did was ignore her. Thousand of people booing her for not be able to sing, her family pushing her for money, the most abusive relationship.. and there were no room for her true friends that really cared about her. They caught her unconscious from her couch, put her on a plane and put her straight into a concert. What kind of people do this? And that last call to her friend, maybe she knew that that was the end. "For Amy and for Whitney, and all my birds of paradise who never got to fly at night cause they were caught up in the dance (of a bad romance)" ๐
