T3 Request - AURORA - Infections of a Different Kind - Step 1 - Full uncut reaction

Comments

In the “Churchyard” lyrics, it’s “hate followed him gently, black (not planted) seeds in his heart” And in “Infections of a different kind “, it’s “so belong to us all (not soul) Where is the lyrics from? I highly recommend using Genius❤️

The live performance of “It happened quiet” was her first live performance of this song😍

I tried leaving this comment on YT, but it was probably too long lol Yaaay! I’ve been waiting for this😍 Beautiful reaction Val, I had to buy your Patreon (Aurora)🥰 It’s hard having favourites when it comes to Aurora, I love all of these songs💙🦋 1. Queendom In an interview with Clash she said: "Queendom is about celebrating all the differences in us. It's about celebrating the women and the children and animals and the men also. The quiet ones and the introverts, where they can sing and be seen. It's about the shy people and the lonely people and I hope it can be a place where we can come and be lonely together and then not be lonely anymore. Queendom is a place for all of us." 2. Forgotten Love "Forgotten Love is a song I wrote about how when we choose to fall in love with someone, either a partner or even just the love you have for a friend, we know the risk it takes. How much it would hurt if we would lose this person who we love this much." 3. Gentle Earthquakes “”Gentle Earthquakes" in a title was originally inspired by an org*sm, I think org*sms are just the most beautiful things to ever exist in this world and it should be filled with just love and joy 'cause it's a beautiful gift that has been given to mankind. I was thinking about something that is so powerful and big that it created a gentle an earthquake. Originally that song was inspired by s*x and it was very beautiful, it was a beautiful song. But then I changed it; I don't often change my mind with songs, especially when I write about things that are so wonderful as s*x. But then I changed my mind and started writing about an entirely different thing. And it became a song that has to do with the female empowerment when a woman decides to leave a toxic place or a toxic man in her life or of course another toxic woman. It's kind of that empowering song, it became a really empowering thing. Of course, s*x can also be a beautiful and empowering thing but now the song is about when you make a decision for yourself in life that is very hard to make but you do it anyway and you stay string and brave and you change things for yourself for the better! And I just imagined that when you made this big decision it made such a great impact that around you you created a tiny little earthquake!” 4. All is Soft Inside Aurora often introduces the song as one "for emotional people" The song describes a moment in her life where she felt like she was defenseless in a time of need. She continues by telling the listener how her barriers were broken and torn away to reveal her softer insides and what was most vulnerable. 5. It Happened Quiet (I highly recommend the live performance at Current, the fan favourite❤️) And 6. Churchyard Both “It Happened Quiet” and “Churchyard” were inspired by domestic violence, and in the end she comes back to haunt the one that hurt/killed her. Aurora rarely write songs about herself, it’s more about things happening in and to this world💕 7. Soft Universe In a response to a Q&A question, Aurora said about the song: "It actually has to do with love... or the fight for love, amongst other things. I was thinking about people fighting for what they believe in, [people] going in protest together to fight for a better world." 8. Infections of a Different Kind "One night I wrote a song in my dreams. It was the title track from my album Infections of a Different Kind - Step 1. I woke up in the middle of the night and went down to my piano. I pushed the record button on my phone and played the melody. And then I went to bed again." I highly recommend her KEXP performances, especially the ones from 2018 and 2024. And of course the whole amazingly beautiful concert at Nidarosdomen 2017😍 ✌️💙🦋

Thank you for your reaction! I wanted to share a fun fact that I love. Most of us, when we first listen to Gentle Earthquakes, think it's a song about life, freedom, the fire of living, escaping, etc. She said it's a song about sex (those weird little reverse sounds at the start are “orgasms” ). When I re-listened to the song with that context, there are so many analogies. The name "Gentle Earthquakes" is a literal metaphor for sex. But that's just a fun fact, I think art is art and it's also a beautiful song about life itself! Also, I just wanted to say—since you mentioned feeling grief/envious that she can be so unapologetically herself at such a young age (I’ve felt the same)—she actually said she doesn’t like watching herself perform because of “how weird her hands move” (nonsense, we love her for that), and she also struggles with self-love. You're right that we all don't have it figured out. ❤️

Лана Ахадова

Not enough people talk about this album I think (or maybe I just don't see it anywhere)

Sönke Schmitz

I came for Lana but stayed for Aurora!!! Loved your interpretations of the songs. It allows me to hear them differently each time when people give their own personal takes. Im so excited for your Aurora journey. The gods we can touch is my most fav album ever!

Gordan Haile

Thank you! People were so weird on that first video of mine and it really frustrated me. But I’m happy to move on from that now and just enjoy the music and not let those other people get in my head. Learning to just block those energies now! 😅. I love that tho “autist to artist”! Hehe, my story seems to be flipped. I started out identifying as an artist and didn’t get diagnosed until later. Maybe I’m an artist to an autist. lol 😆. (But I’ll always be an artist!!!) Anyways, thanks for your comment and welcome on in! ❤️

Passion Dump of an Autist

I can assure you that she has confirmed that she is on the autism spectrum. I have heard it directly from her myself, she said (with a twinkle): "From autist to artist" in explaining how over the years being an artist has helped her cope with the world better and to see that there are more people around the world who struggle with the same challenges.

Hans77

I wanna do ALL of it! Deep dive! Like Lana!

After Aurora has released the deluxe for What Happened To The Heart? would you do interviews? She’s actually alot funnier than i thought and she’s so different from her music. 😂🤍

laufey

That is getting me SO excited for step 2! We need the exhale!!! lol. And yeah, it was a bummer tbh. The whole experience in YT with what happened to the heart was just incredibly overwhelming for me. I’m in a lot more regulated place now tho so I believe I’ll handle weirdo comments a bit better this time around! I’m prepared! 😅💕

Passion Dump of an Autist

I was so happy to see this reaction! Also I’m so sorry you had some comments negatively impact your Aurora journey. Aurora has been very forthcoming in many interviews and concerts about being neurodivergent, using that word specifically. So she absolutely does share what a lot of us deal with, like feeling emotions intensely, enjoying routines, and being highly sensitive. She’s pretty open about it! It Happened Quiet was actually the first ever song I heard of hers (it came on while I was playing Lana Del Rey radio at work 😂) and then it was hearing Step 2 that made me fall head over heels obsessed, so I’m excited to see how you eventually continue this journey! Also- fun fact about the two album covers, Step 1 represents the inhale and step 2 is the exhale! “This is the breath” 🤍

Jeff Pierpoint

Yes! I want to! I have to be in a specific mood for it tbh. But she's still on my mind to continue. I want to go back to some of her older stuff.

Would you ever consider doing more charli xcx? Also love this video x

Kirsty

I completely understand. The odds are quite low. Not because of anything about the artist I quite like what I've heard which isn't much). Just because I've got a list of 10+ other artists I've already committed to.

Passion Dump of an Autist

What are the odds of you reacting to blonde by frank ocean??? I’m way too broke for tier 3
