Only just got to this reaction - loved it so much and yes, 100% agree. She has always shown us the deep, beautiful but also sometimes ugly truth beneath the glamour (especially in the shallow and materialistic world of Hollywood/the music industry/fame in general). The two things can exist at once, and she forces us to look deeper and is unafraid to expose those darker parts of herself and her life, and the fact that she has the courage to do that is beautiful in and of itself, and is one of the many things that makes her beautiful. There is imperfection in authenticity, and she always shows us that.

2025-04-22 16:51:30 +0000 UTCAmazing! If I'm not wrong, Lana commented a post in Instagram confirming that when she took off the wig, it was "back to her". It's interesting that by the end of the video, after the hall of Fame, the camera focuses on her candy necklace, it seems like she was in her NFR era (hair, makeup, the truck..) and then back to who she is now, without any necklace. She reached the top of the fame during that era, but she doesn't want it anymore. And, you can see that there are different necklaces during the video: Black Dalhia has a kind of emerald, Marilyn has pearls, Veronica has diamonds (if I'm not wrong) and she has a candy necklace. The meaning? No idea... But I've been thinking a lot about it. ❤️

2025-04-22 14:08:48 +0000 UTCYes, I think she definitely portrayed all women with tragic fame story - Black Dhalia in the first scene, Marilyn and Veronica Lake. And you are right - it’s about identity and how all these gorgeous women didn’t have a chance to be themselves. I think this is why Lana doesn’t have the necklace at the end the video - she broke the circle, she made it as a celebrity and had a chance to be herself in this record (or even in BB). I think necklace can be a burden of fame. Interesting interpretation from your side as always, Val xx

2025-04-22 02:03:18 +0000 UTCi haven't even finished the video yet lol but something i find super interesting is how her hair correlates to certain eras. The long dark hair at the beginning is very blue banisters, the dark updo is ocean, the blonde short hair is aka (and Marilyn), the big updo at the end is how she wore her hair during born to die live performances and shes been doing the same recently. The two i find most interesting tho are the light, long wig thats the same style as the btd album cover, and when she takes it off she has dark curly hair how she did in the ride music video. Also the timing of when she takes the wig off, when she was performing she had the BTD wig, which i think resembles her playing character. Although i do think the BTD era was still 'real', throughout a lot of the songs she is portraying her romanticised version of herself. Whereas with paradise i felt like she was a bit more raw, especially in ride which is why i think she goes from the light wig to perform for him in (the personality she portrayed in BTD) to the rawness of ride when she leaves with him
