I think so much of Lana's obsession with freedom has to do with the trauma of her childhood, as well as the trauma of fame that came later in life. The saddest part of that to me is that singing and being an artist was probably something she saw as an escape from the cage of her childhood, but the fame that came along with that just ended up being another cage. So she's still constantly searching for freedom wherever she can find it. In regards to the song itself, I personally feel like it's about self love, and protecting that little precious fragile bluebird part of herself and letting it fly and be free. Even when she can't, a part of her can. I'm so glad this song connected with you, was healing, and was what you needed to hear <3
