I love all of this! Such a beautiful song

Oh you’re now the 3rd person to suggest this and you may have sealed the deal with telling me there’s a 60’s influence!

Passion Dump of an Autist

That makes a lot of sense now knowing a bit more context. Such a shame because this album is SO beautiful!!

I can’t wait either!!!

❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much for this context! That makes a lot of sense. And it being a more introspective album also makes a lot of sense why I personally gravitate to it even over NFR (no NFR slander here tho). I’m in an introspective phase of my life and so it just hit different than some of the others. When you said Lake Michigan it got me so jealous. Fun fact: in 2021 I went on a “quest” to visit every Great Lake in Canada. I was always sad that due to the pandemic I wasn’t able to visit Lake Michigan as well. One day…perhaps in a few years… ❤️❤️❤️

SECOND THIS!! Hearing Weyes Blood on For Free made me listen to Titanic Rising (2019), which ended up being the first album in a trilogy she’s writing about the current political/environmental times we find ourselves in and the state of hyper-isolation western society has forced us into. The second part being “In the Darkness, Hearts Aglow” came out in 2022 and we’re still waiting on part 3… but given how you connect to Lana I think these two albums are great listens for someone who engages with music and lyrics like you, whether or not you film reactions for them :)

Echoing what I think someone already shared, but I think the timing of this album impeded its ability to be fully appreciated. Covid delayed the album release by 6 Months, she was coming off of the universal acclaim of NFR, a magnum opus that really felt like a poignant snapshot and analysis of love and art and politics in America at that time and so I think a lot of people had certain expectations that this album subverted by being much simpler and introspective. Lana herself described Chemtrails as “an album about standing still and reflecting, not sure of where to go next.” Then Blue Banisters came out only 7 months later so there just wasn’t as much time for the fandom to digest and live with the project. But I still remember it coming out during that early 2021 winter when the whole world felt on pause, and I’d walk along Lake Michigan listening to it every day and the album still takes me right back to that sense memory in a very sad and beautiful way. Also, LOVED experiencing your first reaction to “Not All Who Wander…” that’s a track I feel hits different for anyone who saw themself going so clearly down one path and then life happens, pulls that rug out from under you, and you find yourself having to completely relearn your relationship to yourself and where you find purpose 💜 those harmonies still get me every time. Can’t wait for you to experience Blue Banisters next. The approach on that album is another unexpected switch up for her lyrically and sonically. I still think it’s her most stripped back, raw, and honest album to date and I think you’re going to find it deeply moving and equally exciting to dig into and “collect the nuts” of Lana lore ☺️💜

Best Lana reaction yet!!!

Also, not only is it the beginning of the "freaking good vocals" era imo (just wait for the two next albums 😏), but of the sisterhood topic as well. I love that she mentions other female friends/ artists, made these amazing featurings, and I love the album cover for that reason, Lana with all her "sisters" (and Chuck, her actual sister, on the right 😄) and the brightest smile. Last idea I wanted to share : I don't know why but I can picture "Yosemite" so clearly in my head! It literally feels like being in an old wooden cabin somewhere in the deep mountains, with the winter sunset outside and wind blowing, and your lover is playing guitar, between candles and blankets 😂 it really is my comfort song

Twin !!! Great name, excellent name. The best name ! 😆😊

This reaction was everything! Thank you for sharing your emotions. Let's be cheesy! I feel the same about the importance of community and it feels warm connecting with strangers from such a beautiful and authentic place. I love that you loved this album so much! It wasn't my most listened to album of Miss Lana for several years, but it grew on me a lot and ended in my top 3 of her albums! I mean opening with a track such as "White Dress" is beyond perfection. This song is so special! Not everybody likes her volcals on this one, but I really do. I don't know if that makes sense but it seems to me like there is a kind of irony or bitterness in the chorus, in the way her voice goes higher and she stresses on the b in "down at the men in music Business conference". I'm not an english native speaker so I may say something stupid 😅.

Hetty

Oh sorry lol I commented this before you got there, but you found it in the end!

you should consider getting into weyes blood “titanic rising” and “hearts aglow” are some of the best album i’ve heard

I literally cannot wait for ocean blvd… genuinely her magnum opus

Hey now, I’ve always been a huge Chemtrails stan and I KNEW you would love it!! I feel like it’s her most-disliked album by the fandom in general. Not even that it’s bad at all, but people just overlook it for some reason. It’s such a gem. This album was one of those ones that really transformed my outlook on life in my early Lana days. I was right there with you. Sincerely - a fellow artsy soul :)

This is a favorite of mine too! Wild at Heart is always in rotation in my Lana playlist. Love her voice on it! I think there was a weird mix of reasons the album didn’t hit with people. It came after NFR, released during Covid, and Lana was in a bit of a mood during the initial release. I’ll let you research that lol

MJayBee

I knew you'd love this album! Val, btw Weyes Blood has an AMAZING album called Titanic Rising that I recently discovered - it's been out for a few years, but I didn't catch up at the time, and I thought of you when listening because of all the 60s influence and such GREAT vibes!

The title track is all about juxtapositions (there's that word again!), most notably in the lines about her sun and moon signs - Cancer is soft, sweet, kind water sign, Leo is a fiery, determined, passionate fire sign. It's all about juxtapositions existing together (internally and externally) - like the idyllic, wealthy country clubs and the white picket fences, and the dangerous chemtrails above. How a person can want the idyllic normal domestic life (going to the market, the kids; swimming pools, elementary schools) but still also be in touch with the 'strange and wild' person inside of them. We can be all of these things all at once.

Is "Women Who Run With The Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes the book you mean? If so, yes, Lana LOVES this book and takes a lot of inspiration from it on this album especially.
