The whole allure of the story was her strength and resolve, which I understand the point was being eventually broken, but it seems like once the first barrier was taken down it’s just been an absolute free fall and she now has zero free will. It also has a more interesting possibility in that Claire has to keep the temp tattoo hidden, but only from Dan during the encounter.
