Explanation and Questions Round-up

Hello Everyone!

Sadly, despite what people have guessed, Chapter 14 of the bet was not taken down so that I could add more to the ending. Part 14 was taken down because one pesky little word that tripped Patreon's filter.

Specifically, Leah's pet name for Zane. Apparently, even the use of this word in a completely unrelated context counts as "roleplay of blood-related family members" in Patreon's book. So, in the Patreon releases of this story, from now on, Leah's go-to term for Zane will be "Master".

Patreon will review my edited version and decide if it can go up "within 1-2 business days", but since it's Friday, that does leave the possibility it will stay down for the weekend. Hopefully you will all be able to read it soon, besides the people who got to read it last night!

While I have you here, I thought I would address a couple of questions I saw cropping up this past week:

What is your gender?: Ok, not an actual question that I received, but I did see this misconception pop up. Sorry if this disappoints you, but I am a man. I get this a lot, a combination of a female in my profile pic (I'll get to this later), a chipper attitude, and a gender-neutral pen name.

Who is it in your profile picture? Is it you?: It is intended to be Gina, the female main character from my "Cross Contamination" series, which was probably my most famous work when the Patreon first went up. I probably would have chosen something more neutral if I had know it would cause misconceptions.

What does your pen name mean?: Rabblelaid is a pun on the medieval French writer "Rabelais", because I am a total nerd. Besides the pun, it also includes the words "Rabble", like, the rough common man, and "Laid", as in... well... you know.

I keep hearing about you working on Commissions. How does that work?: Honestly, I hesitated to go into this too deeply, because I have been just abysmal about finishing commissions in a timely manner. Some people have been waiting on commissions for nearly a year. But, for full transparency, here is my pricing and process:

  1. First, I explore what the potential commissioner is interested in with some discussion of the proposed topic and the kinks the commissioner wants to focus on. I never judge, but I also don't think that I can write good work on topics that don't personally turn me on. If I think the topic and fetish is workable, I put the commissioner on the end of my list, which means a long, long wait.

  2. When their turn finally comes up, I ask for half of the payment upfront as collateral. My payment structure is 200 dollars per 10k words. For the type of story most people want, 20k words ($400) is usually the minimum, and most commissioner have been asking for 40k word ($800) epics. Thus the long wait times.

  3. I draft the commission, either updating the commissioner as I go, or waiting for the full draft before presenting it. The commissioner will provide feedback on things they would like to have changes, once again either piece by piece, or in one big chunk.

  4. After making the requested changes and tidying up the draft, the commissioner gets another chance to see if the changes worked the way they envisioned. If everything is good, that is the final draft. If not, i do a couple more fixes.

So, any other questions for me? I'm an open book!

Not yet! After i finish up my current commission, I plan to return to that work and finish it up!
