The Bet Snap Poll and Bonus Scene!

My apologies for bombarding your feed, but I am going to start writing part 14 of The Bet tomorrow potentially, and I wanted to have my ducks in row before then.

So, based on the current numbers, Zane will be inviting Claire to meet with him on his porn set, obviously during an active shoot. So the question is, who should be shooting with him?

The choices are Leah, Ramona, or Perlah, but with two special options that I want to explain a little.

First of all, Perlah and Leah together in a lesbian/threesome scene. This was suggested by someone in the comments, and I think it could be fun, although that would likely mean each of them gets less screen time.

The final choice is a new character, who I am calling Summer. In my mind, not all of Zane's conquests end up pathetic sluts. I think some of them manage to maintain a healthy self-respect and just see it as fun, no-strings-attached sex. Leah and Ramona have elements of this, but I thought it would be interesting to have a character that Claire actually likes right off the bat who also seems to think having sex with Zane isn't a big, angst-ridden deal. It would present another avenue to convince Claire: the idea that maybe she could have sex with Zane and still hold her head up high (whether or not that could actually happen for her). I see summer as a cheerful, athletically built ebony woman in her late twenties, with fantastic legs.

One other piece of housekeeping. There will be a new scene inserted into part three of the bet when it rolls out on Lit this week, and I wanted to present it to you all, because it does have some minor plot relevance. Here it is:

Zane looked down lazily at his phone, saw that it was from his webmaster, and took the call. He normally didn’t call unless it was serious. 

“What’s up?” Zane grunted, making a “five minutes” gesture to the camera men. Ramona rolled her eyes on the bed, but took the opportunity to light up a cigarette. 

“You told me to call you if someone logged in with the CuckyD username. Someone did,” as usual, the webmaster’s thick, nasally sounded annoyed. Zane and he didn’t like each other very much, but they found each other useful.

“Great,” said Zane with a nasty grin. “Log the IP. If someone from that IP tries to make another account, block it.”

“Yeah, yeah, I remember,” said the voice on the other end. There was a disgusting crunching sound over the line. Always snacking, this guy. “You know that someone could get around that in like five minutes if they tried, right?”

“Only if they had the willpower to fight back and some brains,” replied Zane with a chuckle. “I’m not worried.” 

“Whatever. Your funeral,” said the webmaster, speaking through a full mouth of whatever greasy snackfood he was eating. “Hey, you know that my skills are wasted on stupid shit like running your website IT, right? If we are trading favors, don’t waste them on bullshit like this.”

Zane rolled his eyes. “Sure thing. Next time I need some super spooky black-hat hacking, You’ll be first on my list. Bye.” He hung up and put the phone back into his robe. The guy was insufferable sometimes, but he ran a damn clean ship on digital security. Zane didn’t think he would need his help in any other ways. He preferred physical and mental over digital manipulation.

This was written as I wrote the chapter where Dan first logged in to the porn site, but I didn't include it in the Patreon release. Why not? Because, as you may have gathered, it is a little winking cameo to a character from another author. I wanted to be sure that the author was OK with that before I included it.

So what relevance does this mysterious webmaster have to the ongoing plot? Not much. This is the one and only scene in which he will appear. it is just meant to be a fun easter egg for sharp-eyed fans. Buuuut, there is some minor plot relevance to the fact that Zane wants to prevent Dan from purchasing a full non-Beta subscription to Freaks in the Sheets.
