Pacing and Cumbunny - A Frank Discussion

Good evening everyone.
I noticed with the recent release of Cumbunny 8, there was some talk about pacing. Some patrons expressed concerns that this past chapter felt like it didn't move the plot forward very much, and some even felt like I might be dragging my feet deliberately in order to pad and prolong the series.
I'm sensitive to those concerns, because I have felt the same way about other projects from other authors I enjoy in the past. So I'd like to speak to them directly. I think I know what happened with this chapter that made it feel less that totally satisfying to some readers. Let me speak about that for a moment here for those that are interested in how the sausage gets made, and then at the end I will sum up what I plan to do about it.
So here is what happened with chapter 8: This chapter was planned to be the story of how Kim was seduced and corrupted by Gene. The whole plot line, from start to finish. But I ran into an issue. The first scene of chapter 8, where Kim gets another sample from "Frank Penn" ended up far too long in my rough draft, about six thousand words.
I limit myself to around ten thousands words for each chapter of Cumbunny. This is so I can ensure I have the chapters out in time and give myself the time I need to work on other projects. I can go over that limit a little, but it was clear after the first scene that telling the entire story of Kim's downfall would take at least twenty thousand words. I had a choice. I could have severely cut back the length of the sperm bank scene, but I was reluctant to do that. I liked the scene and thought it was hot, so why would I take a chainsaw to it?
So, in the end, I made the call to cut the chapter plot outline in half and spread it across chapters 8 and 9. I think this is why it ended up feeling like not as much happened as did in previous chapters.
So, bottom line, here is what I plan to do:
I have decided to work on chapter 9 right away and release it early as a sign of good faith to my subscribers that I have no plans to drag my feet and milk the series. It should be out sometime this week or early next.
Although things have stretched a bit beyond my original plan of ten chapters, I still have a definitive story arc in mind for the series. I estimate around fifteen total chapters at this point.
Thanks for sticking with me! I hope you all continue to enjoy the series.
