Thinking about the "Cuckold Epic"
Added 2025-02-13 01:12:43 +0000 UTCGood Evening Everyone!
I've been working hard on my next commission story lately, in addition to preparing some already-written work for publication. (Expect Carrot and Stick part three in a few days here!)
Cumbunny part 1 has been doing really well! I'm eager to get started on part five (or E) as soon as I have a little more free time.
Lately I've been thinking about something I'd like to call "The Cuckold Epic".
What do I mean by that title? I mean long-running stories focused on the slow-boil cuckolding of a couple. They usually make an effort to be grounded in reality and explore the relationship dynamic.
Some recent and/or ongoing Cuckold Epics that i have enjoyed quite a bit are vzb's "Corruption of a Geek Goddess" and DonSilver's "Toxic Attraction". But there are many others as well.
So here is the thing: Cuckold Epics have big fanbases. They pull in big readership numbers, and, not to be shallow, but a lot of money. It's a genre that a lot of people prefer.
Cross Contamination is sort of my stab at a Cuckold Epic, but it doesn't fit neatly into that box. For one, it mixes in a lot of other fetishes and has an entirely different corruption plot running parallel to the cuckold corruption. Second of all, it is pretty heightened. It uses way more "porn logic" and extreme situations than a typical story in this genre, which I think might immediately turn some people off.
I think I could absolutely write a good Cuckold Epic, and enjoy doing it too. I've written grounded stories before, I like to think I have a good handle on long-running character development, and I enjoying writing and reading cuckolding stories. I even have a concept for a story I've been tossing around that I think would work great for a long-running, slow cuckold seduction. If people are interested I could make a post with the pitch.
So what are the downsides? It would be time-consuming. Most people who write this kind of story write just one story. Also, is it selling out? I'm not sure. I genuinely like the genre and have written plenty of stuff adjacent to it. I don't want to feel like I'm jumping on the bandwagon or just writing out a list of cliches.
What do all of you think? Should I give the long-form cuckolding story a try?
I've included a poll with some opinions I think might be out there, but I'm also eager to hear what you think in the comments!

I would definitely like to see you try your hand at this story, however, I would hate for it come at the expense of Cross Contamination. I feel your Cross Contamination series is quite unique from most that i have read and would hate for it to be rushed so this new story could be started. Would have liked an option to select for 'Write it alongside, Cross Contamination'.

I enjoy a lot of kinks and my output is really varied. I'm sure it's frustrating to readers who only like some of the same things I do (Sorry everyone!).

2025-02-13 22:44:23 +0000 UTCWrite what you like and what you enjoy and an audience will find you. Cross contamination is 100% a cuckold epic imo as the genre is enormously varied, not only that it is better than Toxic attraction which has fewer interesting angles. Maximising your income is a reasonable thing to want to do but in the world or erotic fiction writing it often comes from fully committing to a niche and then being prolific like Alltheseroadworks in mind control. Paying patreon subscribers need to be fed a constant source of whatever they signed up for in order to be satisfied. Publishing can also earn you some money but it seems that making money involves producing lots of books and your best bet is to publish something you have already made money from on Patreon. If you aren't writing what you like you're unlikely to be motivated enough to produce the amount of content that is needed to make money.
