Feedback requested: Story Length

Hello!

I'm still plugging away at my latest story. This one is a whopper. It's likely to be three parts at least when it comes out.

But that leads me to a question I have been wrestling with.

I'm a little worried that I might be shooting myself in the foot with my story lengths. I have a strong suspicion that some people see a 6-9 page story on literotica and just say "no thanks". I sometimes wonder if I am turning away people who would potentially love my work through the length of my stories. I think some people simply don't read stories that are longer than 2-3 pages.

I have preferred to release long form stories in the past because it lets me give a slow build up . If I released smaller chunks, some of them might be a little boring in isolation.

What do you think? Should I stick to my guns and release my stories in long form even if it makes some people bounce off, or would it be better to release my longer stories as short-run series?

I appreciate your opinions! Sorry that this question is a bit less exciting than my usual polls.

I misunderstood your question. I thought you were considering writing shorter stories vs longer ones. There is another writer I follow that runs his stories like the old-time movie serials. He writes a chapter a month for at least a half dozen stories. The complaints that he most frequently gets is that not enough happened in the chapter. Especially transition chapters. Personally, I like to read more then a page or two at a time.

Good question. My thought was that, for example, I would take my freelancer story and release each "scene" as its own chapter. So yes, I guess the stories would be identical.

Do you mean that the stories are identical, but in one case, you are releasing it as a one time long story, and in another case you are releasing it in chapters?
