While trying to run the Mac version using an M3 chip, an error message appears stating that it is damaged and should be moved to the trash. Would this be resolved using an M1 or M2 chip, as M3 is not yet supported, or is there a solution to make it work?

2025-05-27 18:21:41 +0000 UTCHoly crap! I got it working finally! Thanks for the tips, everyone! I can't wait to dive into this thing! (And seriously considering porting my current film project over to it if I can get things running easily!) Kudos to Dillon and the GooEngine team! Y'all rock!

2025-04-03 13:03:51 +0000 UTCI'm trying to install it, but I'm not sure which file to open and I don't want to risk ruining something. The post says "click the blender.exe file" but there are several present., and the only one labeled simply as "Blender" keeps getting blocked by my PC for being unrecognized. What can I do?

2025-02-24 21:30:16 +0000 UTCnever mind i fixed it. so for anyone who has the same problem. import models into regular blender > import blender file into goo Engine > go to Object tap at the top left > Relations > Make Local > All or Just Selected. its worked so fare but who knows it might scrw me in the futcher. who knows.

2025-02-18 07:21:04 +0000 UTCWould love to see it available on M4!

2025-02-03 22:31:39 +0000 UTChi what blender version work on this goo engine addon?

2025-02-02 23:23:10 +0000 UTCGot it! The original issue was that enabling Rendered view in general would crash, which we did fix! But it looks like Self Shadow is still crashing things. Our dev team is looking into it now!

2025-02-02 22:41:33 +0000 UTCon M2 and says blender in broken and to move to bin, whenever I try to open the zip file post downloading
Drew Slee
2025-02-02 00:25:38 +0000 UTCwell then the fix doesnt work at all, just tried and "Check Self Shadowing" still makes it instantly crash

2025-02-01 11:43:27 +0000 UTCKevin Bender's fix should fix it! The 4.1.0 version is simply because we accidentally forgot to change the version name, but it should have the fix for M1/M2!
Dillon Goo
2025-02-01 11:25:49 +0000 UTCThe build says 4.1.0 but it's actually got the M1/M2 fix in it already! We accidentally forgot to change the version name, but it should be stable. Feel free to test it and report back though!

2025-02-01 11:23:36 +0000 UTCDoesn't really fix anything, It will build in version 4.1.0, which crashes when you enable "Self Shadows"
Qwack
2025-01-30 18:30:09 +0000 UTCI'm on a M1 Mac and it tells me that the file is broken and that I should move it to trash. Also, Kevin Blender is wrong, that "fix" will build the Goo Engine in the 4.1.0 version which is unoptimised and will crash if you try enabling "Self Shadows".

2025-01-30 18:09:52 +0000 UTCUpon further reading, it looks like I may be able to build a Linux version myself? Gonna try it out, hopefully it works, but I still would love a compiled version shared with these posts on Patreon since I pay mostly for the already built packages of this.

2025-01-15 02:22:04 +0000 UTCIs there any way we can fund a Linux version? I'm trying to move completely off of Windows because Windows is awful, but I still want to use the hardware on that PC since the GPU I have kicks the shit out of my M4 Mac Mini's GPU, but the lack of a Linux version of Goo Engine is preventing the move. I rely on the hacks/custom stuff Goo Engine does for NPR rendering, and would prefer not to have to redo all my assets in stock Blender. Thanks!

2025-01-15 02:16:51 +0000 UTCI'm having the same issue on M2

2025-01-06 01:57:23 +0000 UTCWhy doesn't Goo Engine detect my GPU? It works fine in Blender.

2025-01-04 05:16:56 +0000 UTCwill there be mac with M3 chip version?, im using M3 Pro and each time i turn on check self shadow in material settings it make the app force quit.

2025-01-04 05:15:52 +0000 UTCI think it was an addon conflict. Its resolved on my end. Sorry I should've updated this. 3DCW works on a template it was conflicting with other parts of Goo Engine. It has Subdivision shortcuts that seem to break the rest of Goo. 😕 What I learned...work backwards. What do I do the most? Maybe even run two separate versions for better compatibility. One setup for modeling and another for animation. I do the same with Adobe stuffs. Although. I'm kind of over Adobe.

2025-01-04 02:46:21 +0000 UTCFor those who didn’t see the reply/fix for the issue with launching on Mac: This is an expanded explanation, based on that answer: 1. Extract the download of Goo Engine 4.1.1 into it’s own folder (you should now have a blender.app file in that folder) 2. Open a terminal window and type (or paste) the following: xattr -d com.apple.quarantine 3. Leave the terminal window open and open the folder where your blender.app file (that is the goo engine 4.1.1 file you just downloaded) is located. 4. Drag that file into the terminal window and it will populate it’s location on the command line 5. Now your terminal window command should look something like this: xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Blender.app (or something similar, depending on where you placed the file) 6. Make sure there is a space between ‘xattr -d com.apple.quarantine’ and ‘/Applications/Blender.app’ 7. Hit return in the terminal window to execute the command 8. Double click the blender.app file to launch it now.

2025-01-03 19:48:04 +0000 UTCAny plans to port Goo Engine to Linux down the road?

2024-12-28 05:57:34 +0000 UTCI noticed subdivisions stopped working after the update. I'm using the newest video driver NVIDIA Studio 566.14. Hmmm. I liked 4.0. :D

2024-12-17 22:22:56 +0000 UTCUpdate: Just checked on my Intel Mac and I'm getting an App icon with the white "circle+slash" icon indicating it won't run. Bummer! LMK if you want help with testing. I'd be happy to pitch in to help solve this! System is a 2019 iMac with i9 and discrete AMD graphics (built in Pro Vega 48 and RX 6900 XT eGPU).

2024-12-15 15:33:33 +0000 UTCHrm. Got an error during verification when I tried to open the executable. The dialogue says: >> "Blender.app" is damaged and should be moved the Trash. << (I took a screenshot for reference) Has anyone else encountered this? Running MacBook Pro w/ M1 Max on Sonoma 14.5. I'll try it on my Intel iMac and see if I can replicate the error. Happy to help troubleshoot if necessary!
