December Update

Another month, another update!

This month, we have a suitable mockup to show off for you. I should note that while this mockup more or less represents what we intend to implement it is by no means absolutely final, and it's entirely likely to receive tweaks as things develop.  

The only thing of note that the mockup doesn't explicitly convey is the colouration of the "ears" on the stat bar. I intend to have those change colour to reflect the game's current context.  

Otherwise, we don't have the "apocalyptic" variation to show yet, for time efficiency reasons; the pristine version is still in a state of flux and making tweaks between two versions when one won't even be used until we start seeing public builds feels like a wasteful use of time.  

Now that we have the mockup ready to go, the next step is implementation, which can be broken down into three parts. First is a simple matter of pulling apart the mockup and reassembling it in Flash. Second involves text size, formatting, colour, etc. And the third deals with a final cleanup of the game's code, as well as implementation of UI-relevant mechanics, like hotkeys.  

It's as of yet unclear how much refinement of the mockup is needed, and how time-consuming translating it over to flash will be, so while our goal is before the end of December, that may be optimistic when it comes to whether or not code cleanup will be complete before then. Even so, the goal is to have a working build by then, regardless of how far along we are with the code.
