Flash Build
Added 2016-05-03 03:45:12 +0000 UTCAnother month, another build! Sadly, my ambitions of completing all the monsters in a single month was hit with the harsh reality that I simply cannot produce that much prose within that span of time. All this work on systems has made me nostalgic for my big content releases, only to be reminded just how much time those releases took.
For this sub-iteration, we only have the Wyvern to showcase. Originally, the Wyv' was intended to be implemented last, but you can't always get in the writing mood, so I decided to focus on translating this already-complete encounter from its inform version as something to do in the interim, and, well, I may or may not have gone overboard with this...
The thing to keep in mind here is that, of all the encounters in the Inform version, the Wyvern is easily the single most complex of them. --I mean, let's go down the list here:
- They're bi-gendered
- Their context and difficulty changes at player level 20
- They have a full set of player loss content, including TBM easter egg scenes and TWO bound states, one of which is also the most complex I ever made, and
- They have a full set of player victory scenes, for both genders, when players start actually fighting them.
Hell, the translation has only made them more complex, as they now have a proper set of combat mechanics for their differing "Stages". By this point, the Wyvern's more than twice the size of any other extension for the game.
Right now, I've fully translated all content for the monster, with the exception of the orgy bound state (Why did I make this event an easter egg most players would've probably missed anyways? Ah--). The vore bound state should work, as well as all its scenes (what scenes can currently be accessed, at least).
They've also received some tuning to their stats (You should only see them at level 3 or higher now), but they are by no means properly tuned -- particularly at their level 20 stage -- so don't take the numbers you see as representative of the what the end-game will look like.
There may also be some trivial substring conditionals that haven't been translated, simply because the tech for them isn't in yet (Daytimer, I think, is the main one). Also, this build is pretty fast-and-loose with testing, so bugs or writing errors may creep in.
Overall, it was for the best that I got this over with. If the Wyvern can be brought to full working condition within this new Flash version, then literally anything from the original game can be brought in, and it's also a good opportunity to develop a lot of important peripheral tech; that being said, they also put the real drag chute on our current development progress.
At the very least, the main three shouldn't be anywhere near this taxing -- almost all the writing for the Female Husky is done, and shouldn't take long to complete, along with the rest which still just need their player vic content. I'll also look into other ways of speeding up the writing process.
Here's to hoping for a more productive month. Cheers!
