Maybe a little late and sometimes a little Swenglish but... 19:01 "It's always been popular to come to Gotland to mess about. In the 13th and 14th century it was the German merchants in the city who fought against the peasants outside the city. In the 15th and 16th century the Danes did piracy from the Visborgs fortress. The Danes were the worst of course in the summer of 1361 when Valdemar Atterdag's elite force butchered a peasant army outside these walls. In 1808 Russia declared the island as theirs, for all time, but it only lasted a month until the Swedes took it back and since then we are the ones who come here and mess about. In the 1860's the "higher" society started to come here. In 1938 two weeks vacation was introduced and all the campers stormed here on their bikes. In 1955 the first car ferry started, in about 1970 Ulf Lundell came here and since 1981 all the political party leaders come here to debate. And week 29 is the Stockholm week. Today's team competition is also about "sommarplågor" (summer torment - songs that get so popular they are played until you kind of hate them)."

2023-10-27 12:49:55 +0000 UTCGotland is my home! It is beautiful and full of history. You should defiantly come and check it out. Depending on how long you have in Stockholm. It is a 45 minute buss ride to the faery and it takes 3,5 hours. I believe the boat goas back and forth 2 times a day , now during the slow season. During the summer it goes more often. Or you can fly and it takes around 45 minutes. X) And yes, Melodifestivalen is our competition where the winner becomes our representative for Eurovision. :)
