Public Release: JAM v72 is here!

After weeks of work, I’m thrilled to finally announce the public release of version 72 of Manga Downloader, now officially called JAM!
The changelog for this release is huge, but to keep it short and sweet, the main highlights can be summed up in three big news:

1️⃣ Official Rebranding to JAM
Originally, the program was called Manga Downloader, but since the name could easily be misinterpreted as something related to piracy, I decided to completely change it. This avoids any misunderstanding, as the program is intended purely as a legal archiving tool, with no intention whatsoever of infringing any copyright or law. From now on, it will proudly carry the name JAM!

2️⃣ ImageMagick Integration for Image Processing
This is a real game changer! Until now, Java’s built-in tools for handling images were extremely limited—especially when it came to formats like WEBP. With ImageMagick support, the possibilities are practically endless: better conversions, more reliable handling of different formats, and the exciting potential to introduce brand new and more advanced output modes in the future.

3️⃣ Revamped EPUB Support
You can now generate optimized EPUB eBooks tailored to your own device. That means you’ll be able to read your favorite content seamlessly on e-readers, tablets, or phones—and even organize them into your existing libraries so everything stays neat, tidy, and always ready for reading.

💖 As always, I want to take a moment to thank all of you—my amazing supporters. None of this would be possible without your encouragement, generosity, and patience. Every contribution makes a huge difference, and I’m genuinely grateful to have such a supportive community cheering me on. You all inspire me to keep pushing JAM forward 🙏

🐞As always, over the next two weeks I’ll be fully focused on tracking down and fixing any bugs that will inevitably pop up as more people start using this release. Once the dust settles and things stabilize, I’ll begin work on the next version—and that’s when you’ll start seeing fresh nightly builds again.
📚 The roadmap ahead will center on building a brand-new library mode, which will eventually replace the current bookmarks system. This will take JAM to the next level, making it even easier to manage and enjoy your collections.

Thank you again for believing in this project and supporting its growth 🚀

Hello, the update usually happens in two steps: on the first launch it won’t find the update because you’re still running the old Launcher. After that launch, the program updates the Launcher in the background, so the next time you start it you’ll already have the new Launcher (you’ll recognize it by the different logo on the splash screen), which will then download the new version. So technically, it takes two launches of the program to complete the whole update process 👍

When I started MD, it did not update. Is there anything special I need to do?
