So, What's Next? A Quick Update

Hey everyone! I hope your November has gotten off to a great start. I caught a cold last week so unfortunately stuffing my face with Halloween candy has been pretty off-limits. It also means I haven't been able to properly sit down and record a larger update video for Patreon that I've been thinking about making for the last month. It concerns some big changes coming to all aspects of ArTorr in the coming year. Not all details of those changes have crystalized yet in my mind, but as it's been a whole month since we put out a video and I've told you nothing about the next video (oops), I should probably at least fill you in on what I've been working on. Here's the scoop!

Remember The Clone Wars?

You mean that animated Star Wars show we made three whole videos about back in 2020? What about it? Well-- I'm making another video about it. But it's a weird one. This video has no script and no commentary; it has been 100% built in the editing process. I mostly started working on it as an experiment: what would it look like if I tried to condense everything I talked about in those original three videos into a 10-15 minute edit? As you can imagine, it's impossible to capture most of what those videos were about. But the core of what The Clone Wars story is to the rest of the Star Wars story is something I feel I can capture. It's been a very fun project to work on so far, and should be out sometime this month. That's all I'll say about it until it's out.

Rogue One

I've talked a bit on here in the past about wanting to do a video on Andor. We're so very close to doing that, but first-- I've decided to extend the runway to that video a bit more by doing a video on 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story first. This is the next scripted video coming to the channel.

There's a lot of things about Rogue One that I think makes it worth diving into before Andor. It's where we meet Tony Gilroy, the showrunner for Andor, as he was brought on in post-production for rewrites and reshoots of the movie. Thematically, Rogue One is a half-step into a tone of Star Wars storytelling that would later define the dark and gritty tone of Andor. And through the specific lens that I've been wanting to do a video on Andor, Rogue One is a great place to prime that kind of discussion: one that looks at the Star Wars universe as a pastiche for various kinds of world history. Particular to Rogue One, the history of World War II and atomic weapons.

My goal is A) to keep this video under an hour, around the 40 minute mark ideally, and B) to get this video out by late December, right around the anniversary of Rogue One's theatrical release 8 years ago. I'll reveal more as we get closer to the video.

That's all for now. When I'm over this cold I'll record that update video, and have a conversation with y'all about the direction of the channel, along with future videos and future plans. As I said, I've been thinking a lot about it. Don't miss it! Thank you for reading, and stay safe out there :)

Comments

As of right now that is still the working title for the Andor video, yes! Impressive memory. On the contrary, the hero's journey will not come up in a substantial way again lol (though I see how you got that from "thousand faces"). Thank for staying engaged, always appreciated!!

"Rogue One" is undoubtedly one of my most cherished "Star Wars" films, and I hold it in high regard alongside "Revenge of the Sith." And speaking of your Andor video project in the May the 4th video about your Star Wars round map, your Andor video had a title "The Thousand Faces of Andor." Is that a working title or the official title? Also, it seems like you're going to be discussing the hero's journey once again.
