Calling it now, the old gods - Irylax dad in particular - created the system to prevent others from usurping them. A tale as old as time. Anyone with a system divinity won't have the soul strength to do shit as a god.

2026-01-31 09:57:19 +0000 UTCTime to grab the empty box and put it in the pre-system storage artifact. Was that Fate that made her so uncharacteristically gracelessly trip and fall onto the box? Is the Rune of Fate a mechanism that exists to get someone to open these boxes, and all the hurdles in the way of fully "unlocking" the Rune of Fate the system's way of trying to prevent it? Was that the system interfering when she decided not to open the previous box? This raises so many questions.

It's entirely possible the soul weakness was caused by something else and the System was a band-aid fix that is now a crutch that can't be taken off easily. Or maybe the System did cause it but it was incompetence rather than malice and now society is too reliant on the System to safely deactivate it.
