(Continuation of the previous post about energy levels)
This is really non-trivial. I’ll try to explain it as simply as possible.
Each energy level covers different sources. First, the planet, then the star, and then the galaxy.
So, here it is.
The energy of the Earth is about 10¹⁶ watts, and the energy of the Sun is about 10²⁶ watts. You might wonder, "Where do these numbers come from?"
Well, this has been calculated by smart people long before me (you can double-check the calculation for a star if you're interested. Or I can show it next time). It takes into account mass, luminosity, and other factors.
So what do we do?
That's right, we divide one by the other.
And when we divide, we subtract the exponents (a rule of mathematics):
26-16=10
And is exactly 10 billion. :)
The exact same thing applies to the galactic level:
Here it's 10³⁷ (since a galaxy contains about 100 billion stars).
Exactly the same:
37-26=11
Well, it's slightly more than 10, of course, but it's approximately 10 :)
