Exploring Options

Hi friends!  I appealed the closing of my wiki, but have yet to hear a response.  If the wiki is gone for good, I'll have to figure out another means to ensure you guys can find the film options and get a good enough idea about what's in them to make the selection you like.

I've thought of a few options, but I am absolutely open to suggestions about what you'd like to see!  Here's some ideas and the pros/cons I can think of:

1) Create a word doc or pdf that I can keep pinned to the top of my page that will store all the info about all the films, and I can update as needed.  Pros: Fast & easy to make, and secure (i.e., no one can delete it but me); Cons: Really long, large document that may be a huge chore to look at & navigate, and not aesthetically pleasing.

2) Create a free message board that can function very similarly to the wiki, with pages interlinked to one another. Pros: Most similar to the wiki's layout; Cons: Will take some time (probably a couple of weeks) to develop and may have similar vulnerabilities as the wiki.

3) Host the videos on a secure platform, like Vimeo, and share them here.  I looked at how TooFarBound does things, and it appears he uses a secure video hosting service and embeds his video links into Patreon posts.  Pros: Once setup, it might be way easier for users to enjoy and for me to maintain than the current system, and it would eliminate the dependence on WeTransfer; Cons: Expensive, will take a very long time (possibly months) to get everything uploaded and hosted there, will have to reconfigure the tiers to ensure appropriate access is given and will probably affect the pricing.

Those are the choices that make the most sense to me right now.  If you have any ideas, I am all ears!  I'm so sorry for all the chaos these last couple of days and thank you for sticking with me!  I will get something figured out for you!

I'm showing my age here but all I hear in my head when I read these updates is "The saga countinues. Wu-Tang. Wu-Tang".

Sorry you went through all that trouble! Was this page not of much help? Or was it too hard to find? https://vorefile.fandom.com/wiki/Raw_Footage_Clip_List

That's good news (kind of). At least you don't have to worry about losing your work.

Just trying to figure out how many raw clips were part of each video. I had to click on each link to find out and eventually just wrote all the ones down that I was considering. A single document would be more manageable if only because it would be a single resource to open (and probably not littered with advertisements to slow things down).

I made some headway! The wiki site has agreed to temporarily reopen my page for a few days it so I can copy all the info off of it. Just gotta figure out where it will end up now.

#3: Right. Though something more like TFB’s system might be worth transitioning to, as I am still strongly leaning towards reducing my output for 2022 anyways. Just having a library available for all to access would cut way down on all the time I spend transferring files and answering questions about the process. #1: Sorry you found the wiki hard to navigate! Was there anything about it that was especially challenging or frustrating? I was personally leaning towards the message board option, but maybe I can make the hyperlinks viable in a single large document instead of across multiple pages. I appreciate the feedback! I’ll see if I can get a document to behave similarly to the wiki.

With regards to #3, the obvious thing I see is that TFB's entire tier structure is a lot different than yours. You are correct that this would require a re-imagining of what your own tiers should be and uploading all the content to match. The one issue I can see is that it would make you completely reliant on Vimeo and that's a big risk if they later decide not to host vore videos. As far as #1 goes, I often found it difficult to find information on the old wiki. In the end, I just gathered up all the information I needed to make selections (I have them queued up until the end of the year) so I did not have to keep searching through the pages trying to find raw sets that totaled 4, for example. So I don't see this option being worse than the wiki. With some better reorganization, it could be better than the wiki and probably not too hard to maintain. As for #2, you hit the nail on the head. Any site could be good with vore today, but not good with vore tomorrow. So having that external dependency is always a risk and could undo all the work to set it up. So I guess my recommendation is #1 as a PDF
