Yeah, I'm not sure if it's a problem with packing it into an APK with Cordova or if it's a problem with android for how it downloads files. I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it so you can download your save files on the Android app. It's possible to import to the app, but not export for some reason. You 'should' still be able to continue from a previous save though as long as you're using the same device. I apologize! As to your question about animations, I double checked and the linked file is still working appropriately. Make sure you click the mega link rather than the apk download. The animations make the game way too large for me to host on Patreon unfortunately, so I have to make use of Mega.
