Ladies and gentlemen,
today I can show you some of the details/detailing I am up to with the wagon(s).
In order to enter the wagon, we need some stairs, so I made a simple 2D stair part and also a detailed 3D stairs option.
For the "openings" (doors and windows) I made a page with the closed door and shutters printed on for a very simple and fast build and another page with the open version without the closing parts just showing the lattice filling (which you could cut out if you wanted a truly empty window). Also I am including separate shutters/doors so you can either glue them over in the closed position (looks a little better than the flat printed on version) or you can glue them on in open position for a more 3D look of details.
I am also showing a detail pic of the undercarriage, so you can get an idea how the buildings block are designed and textured. For now I have just printed the wheels on heavy paper and doubled that up for more width but there will be the more advanced version (like with the hearse wagon) where you can add more and realistic details to the wheel.
Here's a look at the 3D stairs on the wagon.

And here I have a view of the double up closed window shutters ...

... and finally a look at the open windows and (half) opened door!

On the lover edge of the upper wagon you can see some rings I have added where stuff could be attached to. I imagine on the road people would have some boxes etc. attached to the outside wall of the wagon. I will also make some small storage boxes for this area. That will help with giving wagons unique looks depending on how many of those you add and where.
Speaking of unique looks ... now that I got most of the texturing locked in, I will start making color options so you can red, green and blue wagons (and probably with the option of having details like window shutters and doors in a different color too).
So a little more to do before the first wagon is complete but slowly getting to a good stage.
That concludes my progress report of this week. Until next time, stay safe and keep building!
Chris
