Going to the farm ...

Both with my friends and on the internet I hear a lot that parent in self-isolation are looking for things to do with their kids, so I want to shift a while from the current stuff am working on (which is a bit more martial) to a theme that should be fun for both parents&kids and tabletop gamers alike.

As you can see in the sketch I am going to the farm! I have three main buildings planned now. The farm house, the animals stable aka storage shed and the barn. For smaller detail projects I plan to do the hen house, a wagon and an adaptation of ground tiles (lettuce patch etc) and fences.

I even see more potential if I go towards "Wild West theme" with adding a farm building with a porch and maybe a water tower and wind tower?

And we still have the outhouse from last year :-)

I have completed the basic size blocking. For the animal sheds I might make two sizes for smaller animals, like sheep and pigs and the larger one for cattle and horses.

You might notice that the tilt of the barn roof is a composite of the farm house and the shed. So any structures I make (dormer) will work on both.

So there is more than enough to work on for this challenging time and it's time to start working on prototypes and see if it all pans out!

Let me know what you think! Until next time, as always and esp. now, try to have fun and keep building!!!

Good to hear. That was my intention :)

Perfect! Been planning on making a small 'crossroads' farm village for my AD&D game. A few small farms, windmill, store and maybe a roadside shrine. Just something for the players to come across when they are out exploring. And with the upcoming downtime at work, something to create.

I am thinking if I put in a tractor or other modern equipment it will work with modern times too!

This looks great! A farm is a good idea, fits in with everything. Thanks Chris!
