I've been feeling like working on a mock up again! Also I've been watching lots of pokemon content, and wanted to experiment on my take on terrain setting. The ingame visuals and descriptions are so vague, I extrapolated a lot nyehe
Also... I documented the process for both base background and characters!! let's get a peek, right ;>
I made all the elements as different documents, and build a scene with them as assets!
> For the BG I started with a sketch on a grid! I picked Unova route 4 because it's been on the back of my mind for some days now!! Been on an Unova mood lately. You can notice I finish and think about backgrounds the same way i do when it comes to characters!

> Here on shading the piece I only thought about hard shadows. I want the sand to look soft, so I applied softer shading going forward!

Also... The grass assets I used for grassy terrain! These solo elements can be used in any way I want to make a foliage. I really like working with assets!

> Now for the characters! Gesture/mood, structure and then final sketch!

> For these hard shadows, I pointed the light source I thought up while doing them! The trainers have a regular, sunny open sky lighting coming from above, most of other pokémon as well. The terrain setters have a lightning that comes from below, to emphasize their power and how unnatural it feels.

>I also documented the silhouettes for these! I'm usually a bummer when it comes to my own art, but I think my silhouettes can get pretty fun!!

Also as an extra, the windows I used as UI elements!
