Envy Is A Dangerous Sin

“That lucky lady. Some people get all the breaks!”

Tricia shook her head as she passed by the ringing slot machine. It was her first time in Las Vegas. She was rather late getting there at thirty years old, but was enjoying herself for the most part. Several of her friends had urged her to give it a chance, as Tricia always claimed that Las Vegas was full of sin. It wasn’t that she was overly religious or anything. Rather, she herself had an issue with her own body. At thirty years of age, she was a meager five feet two inches and weighed a paltry one hundred five pounds. Having a young-looking face didn’t help matters any, as on more than one occasion, Tricia had been mistaken for a child. Of her one hundred five pounds, none of it was in the right places as far as she was concerned. Not even an A-cup, Tricia wore a bra only because women wear them, not because she needed to wear one.

Walking down the strip, Tricia fumed as the sidewalk was slammed with people, and all of them seemed hellbent on running into her, at least, in her mind. A particularity large frat boy and his buddies were so busy talking about chicks and their night at the blackjack table, they didn’t even see her standing in front of them. There was nowhere for her to move as the four created a wall. The largest guy of the group was the one who ran into her, sending the woman straight to the ground, landing on her bony, flat backside. The four stopped and the man who knocked her down bent at the waist. “Sorry kid, didn’t see you there. Where are your parents?”

He put his hand out to help her up but she slapped his hand away. “I am not a child! I’m thirty years old!”

The guy just laughed. “Listen kid, you don’t have to convince us. Good luck getting into the bar!”

The four guys walked off, leaving an enraged Tricia on the ground. She got up and stomped off towards the Bellagio. While walking, she couldn’t stop talking to herself. “Stupid genes! If I had a body that didn’t look like a child, I wouldn’t have so many issues! Her body, or hers even! Anything better than what I’m stuck with!”

“Excuse me darlin’, are you okay?”

Tricia spun on her heel ready to unleash her fury on the woman who asked but her voice was muffled in the woman’s chest. She backed up and stared, her mouth agape at the sight in front of her. The woman was at least six feet four inches tall with long, fiery red hair and the strangest, but beautiful violet eyes. Her attire was down to earth, wearing a simple low-cut shirt and short jean shorts. It took a moment to register that she wasn’t wearing any kind of high heel either. Tricia’s attention focused on the woman’s chest, which was plentiful. On her left breast, Tricia could see a vibrant tattoo of a phoenix. Realizing she was staring, Tricia looked away and stammered out, “yeah, I’m fine. Just pissed off is all.”

“What’s troubling you child?”

The rage built back up again. “I am NOT a child dammit! I’m just small! Do you need to see my ID?”

The woman’s lips pursed for a moment. “I was not referring to you as a child, my dear. I take it that you are often mistaken for one though based on your reaction. Please, come with me.”

Tricia took a step and hesitated, before taking another step. Why was she following this woman? For all she knew, the lady was going to rob her! There was something alluring about the woman though. Maybe it was her eyes, or perhaps the way she carried herself? No matter the reason, Tricia quickened her pace to keep up with the long, graceful strides of the mysterious woman, who was nearing a small shop, located down an alley. Before opening the door to the shop, the woman turned. “My name is Phoenix, as my tattoo suggests. It’s a pleasure to meet you Tricia.”

Phoenix walked through the entrance while Tricia stared at the closing door. Shaking her head, she opened the door and hurried through. “How did you know my name?”

“Oh darlin’, didn’t I mention that I run a magic shop?”

“No but that doesn’t explain how you know my name!”

With a lighthearted giggle, Phoenix stepped towards a table and picked up a ring. The ring had a beautiful green stone in the center that seemed to sparkle despite there being no direct light on it. “I think this ring would suit you very well. How much longer are you in Las Vegas?”

“Just until tonight. My flight leaves late. I just wanted to spend the weekend here.”

“Perfect! That should work out well then! I’ll tell you what. I’ll give you this ring to wear today. All I ask from you is whatever cash you have at the end of your trip. Just come back here before your flight. Does that work?”

Being the frugal person she was, Tricia never carried more than a couple hundred dollars at any time. The ring looked far more valuable than that. “Sure, I’ll take it! Just out of curiosity though, why this ring? Why me?”

Phoenix simply smiled, her eyes sparkling as she put the ring on Tricia’s left index finger. “This ring called your name to me darlin’. It belongs with you.”

The vagueness of her reply was off putting, but the ring more than made up for it. Tricia admired the glimmer as she held her pale white hand up. “Thanks Phoenix! Glad to have met you!”

When she left, the magic shop disappeared behind her, turning into a souvenir shop, though she never turned back to see. Walking back to the Bellagio, a woman, about five feet eight inches tall walked past. Her chest was prominently on display, so much so, that she barely even saw Tricia. Looking at the woman, Tricia wished she had a body like hers. The gem on her ring glowed for a half second. When the glow ebbed, Tricia continued walking into the hotel. As she walked, her stride became a bit longer while her shirt pushed out around her chest area. Neither Tricia, nor anyone else noticed the change. Now five feet eight inches, Tricia noticed that people were starting to move to the side when she was walking. “Huh, I guess this casino has a higher class of people. No one moved for me on the street!”

As Tricia walked past a group of women, one particular lady caught her eye. Her body was very thin, but her skin was a perfect cinnamon hue and looked to be flawless. Another woman had long, flowing black hair with red highlights. Her envy kicked in eliciting another soft glow from the ring. Moving on through the casino, Tricia flipped her long black hair back and sat down at a slot machine. Putting in a twenty, she reached out her flawless cinnamon colored hand and spun the reels. An elderly woman walked past, stopping for a moment to see if Tricia had won. “Don’t worry, I was playing the machine next to you and won four hundred dollars off of a quarter bet! I’m sure you will get lucky too!”

Tricia smiled and nodded to the woman as the ring glowed again. Her next spin made the bells and whistles go off, signaling a jackpot. Looking up, she found she had hit the progressive jackpot, totaling five thousand dollars. “Oh my God! It’s my lucky day!”

The casino manager, a tall, fit woman walked over to get Tricia’s identification. She handed the lady her ID and waited, looking at the lady. Her ring glowed again as the lady looked over the identification.

Name: Tricia Wholar

Age: 30

Height: 6’1’’

Weight: 195 pounds

Hair: Black

Eyes: Brown

“Everything looks in order Ms. Wholar. I will be right back with your payout.”

Tricia smiled and stared at people passing by. One woman that walked by had the most beautiful emerald green eyes and long, well-manicured nails. A moment later, Tricia reached up scratching her head, using her long, French-tipped nails to scratch an itch. The manager returned with fifty one hundred dollar bills. “Here you are Ms. Wholar. Congratulations! We would also like to invite you to see a show for free.”

“That sounds great! What’s the show?”

“It’s a bit risqué but that is the way Vegas can be. I’m sure you will absolutely love it!”

Beaming brightly, Tricia thanked her and stood up. Flipping her hair again, she began to make her way to the casino buffet, but stopped short seeing a stage. Up there were several women who were competing in a bodybuilding competition. Tricia stood, staring at them for several minutes. “If I had bodies like them, I bet I wouldn’t be so invisible. They look so tall too!”

Continuing on her way to the buffet, Tricia’s shirt began to ride up as her height increased again. In addition, the sleeves of her shirt disappeared as her body began to increase both in muscle mass, and definition. Her biceps became as big as softballs while her forearms bulked out as well. She had already gotten a bit of tonality from the casino manager, but she had nothing in comparison to the female bodybuilders. Even with all the changes to her, Tricia had no idea anything was different. Picking up her pace, Tricia’s legs thickened considerably while her stomach hardened, showing off perfectly defined, and very solid abdominal muscles.

The buffet was good, and Tricia was rather surprised at how much food she was able to eat before feeling full. Then again, she hadn’t eaten anything else all day. With the ticket to the show in hand, she made her way to the theatre. The man at the ticket booth seemed to be looking at her, even from a distance, which was quite a change from the norm. Tricia thought that maybe the casino had alerted them to look out for her. Handing him her ticket, the man smiled. “Looks like you have a front row seat!”

Tricia tilted her head. “Wow! This place really knows how to take care of a customer. That’s great news. I always have problems being able to see over the row in front of me!”

The man stared at her for a few rather awkward seconds before laughing. Opening the door for her, Tricia walked in and sat down. While waiting for the show to start, she pondered why the man laughed. It wasn’t really a joke at all! She was about to go back and ask him when the lights dimmed and the crowd began to clap. A voice came over the loudspeaker welcoming everyone to the show. The curtain opened and music began to play. Tricia gasped as Def Leppard came on. She wasn’t expecting this kind of song at all. The women that graced the stage were also not what she expected. Dressed in nearly nothing, the women were built much more like strippers, rather than dancers. “Thank you for coming folks! Please enjoy the Bellagio’s Burlesque Review!”

The dancers began their routine as the music ramped up louder. As much as Tricia disliked the vulgarity of the show, she couldn’t look away from the dancers either. Some had full lips, while others showed off their long legs. The dancers were in pairs onstage and it seemed that they would complement each other body-wise. One dancer would have a sizeable bust, while the woman dancing alongside her had wide hips, and a thick backside. The ring emitted a glow as Tricia’s eyes danced from dancer to dancer. After several minutes, the show became far more vulgar than Tricia wanted to see. Standing up, she pulled her skirt down and walked towards the door. Her wide hips swayed side to side with each long stride. Her now G-cup breasts jiggled with each step as she exited the theatre. “Sorry sir, but this show is far too lewd for me. Thank you though!”

The confusion on his face was legendary. How could someone dressed so provocatively be such a prude? Tricia thought it was a good idea to try out another slot machine since she had been so lucky before. After all, it was house money! Just two spins in, the machine blared, lights flashing everywhere. “Two jackpots in one day? What an amazing lucky streak!”

A different manager approached her this time, asking for identification. Tricia obliged, pulling it out and handing to him. Her bicep flexed as she gave it to him, though she didn’t think he would have known at all. It wasn’t like she was built like those women on that stage before. Her ring glowed again as she thought about them while the man looked over the ID.

Walking away, the man went to the cashier’s cage and returned to Tricia with her ID and seven thousand dollars. “You are on a roll Ms. Wholar! Can we offer you another night’s stay for free?”

“I’d love to do that but I’ve got to get back home tonight for work in the morning. In fact, I really should get up to my room and grab my stuff. I wouldn’t want to be late!”

The manager smiled and congratulated her once more before stepping away. Tricia hurried to her room and grabbed her suitcase. With her ticket in hand, Tricia hailed a cab, which took her to the airport. Once inside and through security, she sat at an airport slot machine while waiting for her plane to board. Not five minutes later, she was handing her ID over again, receiving a payout of an astounding eight thousand dollars! Satisfied that her run had to be over, Tricia took a seat near her gate. “What an amazing trip! I almost wish I didn’t have to leave!”

She was one of the first to board, as the casino had upgraded her to first class. Tricia sat in the front row of the plane, putting her hands in her lap. It was then, she noticed the ring still on her finger. “Oh shoot, I was supposed to go back to that magic shop! I can’t really do anything about it now, but when I get home, I’ll find her shop online and send her a few hundred bucks her way.”

The rest of the passengers began to board and with a front row seat, Tricia was able to look at each person that came onboard. Several very tall women wearing basketball jerseys boarded the plane. She had seen advertisements for the Las Vegas Aces while vacationing and apparently, they were heading to Texas for a game. While looking, the ring emitted a soft glow and Tricia began growing taller again. A stewardess walked by and asked if she was comfortable. “Yes, I’m fine. Thank you for asking!”

Next on the plane were several college-aged women likely heading home for winter break. They looked to be either freshmen or sophomores. Again, the ring glowed and Tricia’s face and skin both became more youthful. A male steward came on over the speaker while the stewardesses began their safety protocol. Shortly after the the protocol was finished, the plane hummed to life as the engines roared to life. The takeoff was a bit rough, as the plane had to gain altitude quickly in Las Vegas. Tricia’s breasts jiggled, much to the pleasure of the man sitting next to her. When the plane leveled out, she looked out the window to take one last look at the strip. “I’ll have to come back here again soon. It really was amazing.”

She continued to look out the window until the strip was no longer visible. When the plane left the air of Las Vegas however, Tricia inhaled sharply as a searing pain was felt on her left hand. Bringing her hand up, the ring was gone and in its place, was a tattoo in the shape of that same ring, green gem and all. It was also at this moment that Tricia became aware of her body and just how much it had changed. Frantic, she dug into her purse to find her compact. The rippling of her arm muscles distracted her momentarily. A bump in the cabin caused her thighs to flex, which bounced her purse right off her lap. The man next to her bent down to pick it up. “Here you go miss. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to fly given your size.”

Tricia’s emerald green eyes were as wide as saucers as she accepted her purse, and its contents from him. Her hands were so large, she was able to hold everything that was in her purse in one hand. Putting everything back in her purse other than her wallet and compact, Tricia opened the compact. Her force was too strong though and the compact broke in two. Holding the mirror part, she had to hold back a scream. Her face barely looked like her own anymore. Pushing the long black hair out of her face, her hands began to shake, dropping the mirror to her lap. “This… isn’t real, right?”

Opening her wallet, the first thing Tricia noticed was that the twenty thousand dollars of winnings were gone. At this point, she didn’t care and instead pulled out her ID. Reading it made her feel dizzy.

The man yelled out for help as Tricia fainted, rolling to his side and smothering him.

Back in Las Vegas, Phoenix counted the bills and smiled as she placed the notes into her safe. “One thing is for sure. I’ll bet Tricia will never envy someones assets again!”
