Circuit Board Release With All Files! The AA5 and AA6 Bluetooth Adaptor Switch With Power Supply!

Here is the circuit board and all the build files that make a seamless install! This board can be used to adapt a Bluetooth module to and AA5, an AA6, a transformer type set, or even a general purpose audio amplifier. The possibilities extend beyond this as well. Enjoy!

Does Mr. Carlson license any of these PCBs for sale? I'd like to do this project but I'm not set up to make my own PCBs.

James Ollinger

Not to great on building anymore at my age but I have two vintage Bakelite small radios, one has a clock both have the music symbol on the face and radios are brown in color, so I take it I need 3 items including the roller switch to disconnect the AM when Bluetooth comes on. Electronics fun!

Billy Sharp

Thanks Paul for these videos I enjoy!

Billy Sharp

or I could build a one tube receiver set. and back feed the audio output.

Jonathan Hughes

Or even better, use one of the Knight AM transmitter amplifiers. Mr. Carlson did a video on them a while back. They show up on eBay, and there is even someone who is making a nice reproduction kit version.

Jeff DeWitt

Actually, in Silly Meters it is 8.382sm. Watch the video on the toner transfer method of making a PC board here in the listed videos, it will clear up any and all questions. The short answer is that when you do a toner transfer for a PC board, you run the printout onto a very clean blank board through a laminator. The pressure and heat bonds the toner on the paper to the bare PC board. The box around the board printout bonds as well to the blank board and prevents everything inside the box from moving due to heat expansion.

Wayne Parris

It provides a thermal expansion/contraction relief for the paper/copper

Craig Edgar

Dear Mr. Carlson, your explanation @09:59 did not make any sense to me. _How_ does that printed border around the design keep the paper from shrinking? Is it magic?

Matthias Martin

To anyone who doesn't use nonsense units: "0.33" seems to be 0.8mm. You are welcome.

Matthias Martin

Very nice!

Ted Mieske

I understand the build and I understand the content for a certain viewers. I would prefer a single vacuum tube am transmitter 100 milliwatts or less no more then 10 Feet of antenna wire. To comply with FCC Part 15 regulations. my 3Q4 tube is giving my problems. my simple design is giving me Lo Fidelity over broadcasting.

Jonathan Hughes

I presume your drill hole dimension is in inches (.033") or a #66 drill bit? Out of curiosity, would using ferrite core(s) on the jumper wires improve the noise reduction?

Steven Guttag

Great Video. Thanks!!

Gloria Jill Sydor

The Bluetooth board has to be mounted on the outside of the chassis where it is not covered. I talked about this in my Bluetooth installation videos.

Mr Carlson's Lab

Does the bluetooth board need an external antenna if the radio has a metal case?

Charles Severance

Thanks for another great designed project Paul.

Rocco Rizzo

You are very correct, the audio was clipping with the Tek 556 on, the audio bars on my camera were solid at the top.

Mr Carlson's Lab

Thank You for your kind feedback Darren!

Mr Carlson's Lab

Nice demo of the noise floor. Do you think twisting the fly-off leads would have some additional humbucking benefit? Can't wait to adapt this to my Grundig KS680U. Has such a nice HiFi sound. Thanks

Jason Doerr

I get very excited when I see another new video has arrived from Mr Carlson. Thanks again for the detailed explanations, it makes understanding that so much easier. You would make a fantastic teacher, actually you ARE a fantastic teacher! Cheers, Darren

darren bird

You may need to go back a couple of videos and watch them. This is not the first video for this fantastic device, this is only the power supply part of the series. Cheers!

darren bird

I seem to be missing something here... How does the relay connect to and affect the AM radio, and does theBT output connect to the AM radio volume control or if elsewhere, where please ?

Beaky Twitch

Thanks for sharing your knowledge, great job as always

Nigel Sammy

Am I the only one reacting like Navin Johnson when the new phone book arrived?

Joe Wiesenfelder

I think he did a lot of editing to the sound during that section to filter it out.

David McAnulty

Ordering some IRM-03-9 now :-)

Sam

Thanks for the through hole design ! Thanks also for showing the noise level!

Kenny Fidler

You don't need to be concerned about the noise from that scope. It's not intrusive at all in the video.

Stewart Attlesey

The PC boards that I install into radios here at the Lab will have my name on them.

Mr Carlson's Lab

Very cool! Thank you Mr Carlson.

Scott Jagoe

Great stuff, time to breath new life and love into some of these beautiful old sets.

Neil Horlock

Brilliant! I’m having a great time with your videos. Learning so much! Thanks!

KPC01

Thank you Mr C. Every day is a learing day. why is your name not on the board?

Noel

Thank you circuitry meister!
