The Visualizer Circuit - Understanding Circuits Made Easy.

Use this video and circuit to better help you visualize how an oscillator works, and how capacitors get affected by temperature change. Compare what you see on the breadboard to whats displayed on a scope screen. Oscillator "dead time" explained and much more. Enjoy!

Hi professor, can I build booster converter from this oscillator, using 12 v car lighters source turn it to a 36 v battery like power tools charger ?

I'm just getting started so I don't yet have a scope. Can you recommend scopes that would be good for a new bench?

Old Lion

Go to Memberships and click Mr. Carlson's Lab and you'll see it. You won't see it on just Home.

I made this circuit and found that my oscilloscope does not give the display shown. It displays a square wave with straight sides and both channels are the same, i.e. when placed on top of one another. Any ideas? My scope samples at 1g/sec, is that the problem? Thanks.

Can this be the same principle as a pwm signal if you put a tunable capacitor instead off a switch. In an analog way

atlestroms

Is this the same principal as used in a synthesizer LFO [ low frequency oscillator ]

NICK FERRO

Thanks for this. Looking forward to the 6v and 12v automobile systems as I have been wishing to replace the unreliable 6v mechanical vibrator used in a 1944 NAAFI canteen radio I recently restored.

David Moule

Thank you Mr. Carlson! I appreciate you sharing the knowledge and experience you have acquired over the years with the rest of us! It is a gift indeed!

Ken Adams

You are exactly correct!

I use a very old program called "CircuitMaker 2000 pro". It "to this day" is still one of the nicest schematic programs I have come across.

Hi Chris, it's the same holiday here as well.

Hi Bob. If you look directly above where it says "Load more comments" you will see a paper clip with "Visualizer Circuit.pdf" beside it, click on that, the attachment is right there. If you can't see that, it could be your browser, or try rebooting your computer. Edit: Another easy way to find it, it's right above the heart symbol in the videos description here on Patreon.

Mr Carlson's Lab

Thank you for the great info.

LoSaYa

y cant i get any schematics any more

bob cyber

Great explanatory circuit, Paul. Thanks for sharing.

To make this into an inverter with a transformer, would you just replace the LEDs with N-channel MOSFETs (each protected by a snubber) pulling down either side of a center-tapped transformer, with the CT tied to 12V?

Lily Finley

Thanks for the video. I've got to ask, is it the same holiday or a different one on the same day? The reason I ask is that in the early 90's, I took off on my motorcycle for six months traveling the Western US and Canada. Almost always camping wherever worked out in the middle of nowhere. One day, I decided that I would get a kitchenette motel and make a really nice meal. This was in October. I went out to buy food and absolutely everything was closed! That's when I learned that Thanksgiving was in October in Canada.

Chris Bennett

nice drift demo.

Tom Harris

Mr. Carlson, would you mind sharing with us whap app you used to document the schematic for this project? Very nice layout of the schematic as well as the relevant notes. Thanks!

Ken Adams

😉

I wish it was that easy with these cameras.

Mr Carlson's Lab

Good video! A thought, you could use another camera to put on the o'scope or other instrument. Then tie them both through a video or hdmi switch. It save all of the fiddling around during your presentation. Just saying. Take care.

R. Scott99

Glad you're enjoying Eric! It's a holiday here as well.

Mr Carlson's Lab

Ahh, great way to wrap up the holiday weekend (in the US, anyway).
