Audio Cables! Impedance-Capacitance- Shielding And Crosstalk.

Hear the difference an audio cable can make in your system! Get a better understanding of the affects of cable capacitance, and how to test to see if your cable shielding is ok "without destroying" the cable. Learn about cable crosstalk and how to minimize it. See how a small roll of cable can be used as a tone control! Enjoy!

Excellent video, I love the use of the signal tracer to show crosstalk between cables. Will keep this in mind for future amp setups, thanks Doc Carlson

Great lessons learned today. I have a bunch of cables that have been hanging around for years. Time to have some fun checking them out with my old IECO 145. i'll bet most will test faulty. Thanks so much.

Great Video and very timely! This explains so much. Just this morning I was putting a reel-to-reel back together that I had apart for some maintenance and look-see and when I put it back together I had the worst hum I can remember coming out of the RCA output jacks into a headphone preamp. I was worried that I had hosed something with all my fooling around. (I'm really good at that). I thought I had messed up the grounding or something. The cables were ones I had used for many audio applications in the past (CD player to receiver, etc) and had never experienced problems like this in the past. But in this particular application, those RCA cables screamed. Just out of curiosity (and desperation) I grabbed a couple RCA cables that were much thicker and I had a feeling were very well shielded. Viola! It quieted right down. I was amazed at the difference. Then I was looking through these videos and saw this one from a couple of weeks ago and this was perfect. The combination of your explanation and my real world experience has taught me a indelible lesson. Thanks!
