Another "New" Capacitor Tester, The "SIFT" Device!

This is a planning and preparation video for a new capacitor tester design involving the original foil side tester. The "SIFT" or "Self Indicating Foil side Tester" will be a stand alone unit, an "all in one tool" that will not require an external oscilloscope. For newcomers: This video also briefly touches on the importance of knowing the correct orientation of your capacitors in circuit, and why knowing this is so important.

2023-11-21 11:30:12 +0000 UTCI joined Mr. Carlson's Lab about a year ago when I decided to try my hand at restoring a couple old vacuum tube radios that have been hanging around the house for decades. Recently retired gave me the time to pursue new hobbies. Your website really has been helpful and preventing me from potentially destroying these valuable old radios a harming myself. I joined the $2 membership to be able to get access and build some of your safety and test equipment. I've successfully completed three of your devices so far, but I'm could use some help in completing the SIFT device. Could you give me some tips? I have both the basic circuit version of the SIFT switch and Device on breadboard and could upload the circuit drawings that I drew up from the sketches provided in your videos. Thanks in advance for your help - Charlie
