Advancing Our PSU Testing Procedures

Hey everyone!

Quick heads-up first: We just sent out the Patreon reward tiers for part of January + February, so you should get shipping emails in the next few days if you've been waiting for one.

This video has Patrick Stone from the team running through some new testing procedures for the power supply test bench. We're excited to up the ante on our PSU test methodology and approach, and we have a few more PSU pieces already in the pipeline for filming soon!

This video walks you through some advancements we've made on our equipment.

Thanks for your support! Enjoy!

I really appreciate the work you have put into this. It is very informative and helps people get into computers. I feel like computer education should be taken more seriously in an age where computers run the world. I have learned a lot from this channel!

This is GREAT to see! Hopefully this can also lead to more views for Hardware Busters. Mr. Aris Mpitziopoulos is doing yeoman's work over there.

Pretty epic stuff. So glad you guys dive so deep on everything. I am due for a psu upgrade and now Iโ€™m glad I held out. Especially since I plan to upgrade this year to 13th gen or either whatever amd launches. Will you be able to adapt these test for the next generation power supplies or tell us if any of this data may be more useful in the future for upgrades ?

Now you're speaking my language! I once worked on an automated test and calibration jig for sets of four giant shunt resistors that would go on truck batteries. It involved a relay board and a multimeter connected over serial and some software I wrote. Eventually I could diagnose problems by listening to the relays click. My desk at that job kind of looked like the video.

awesome, looks like the new space is working out well

Yep - and I like that GN did state multiple times that he brought it up to gigabyte.

There is. Aris Mpitropolous who have published PSU reviews at Tom's Hardware and Techpowerup for the last decade and now has his own YT channel - Hardware Busters. The level of details in his PSU reviews blows everyone out of the water, JonnyGURU's reviews for example weren't even close. He was also the man who first exposed Gigabyte P-GM issues.

I hope you guys can fill the void that JohhnyGuru left. I followed [H]ardOCP for my legacy builds, and JohnnyGuru for the most recent ones. Now that both are out of the market, there needs to be something more than just a subjective/opinion based thread that constantly gets parroted. Keep it up, this is one of the reasons I'm a patreon here.
