I'm 75. Two years ago, I put down my last dog. She had a brain tumor and it was time to let her go. She'd been a good dog for fourteen years, a rescue poodle. I probably will never have another pet since at my age, I can't promise to be there for them their whole life. I do love dogs, though. I like cats too but am allergic to them. I had two cats who lived to be 19 and 20 years old; they were lovely animals that I petted only with my feet since my hands and face would break out if I touched them otherwise.

2024-02-04 21:03:13 +0000 UTCThe only cat I can rightfully say I owned, I gave back in less than two weeks. He was too wild for my little living space. I might try again someday, if my mom doesn't talk me into a dog first. My favorite of my family's pets was a cat we got when I was six. She lived to 19 years, 8 months. Last week, my parents put down their latest cat. For now, the only pets I can readily visit in my extended family are fish.
