(lambing season is in the spring folks) I have never heard a Saturnalia song but I bet it is better than anything playing currently.
2023-12-18 00:44:01 +0000 UTCAfter "diligent" research, I have postulated that there are exactly seven and one half actual X-mas songs, but of those songs, each one has 612 different versions by 1436 different artists. With the exceptions of Snoopy's Christmas and the Kink's Father Christmas, all other songs are derivative. The very fact that so many exist is evidence of how little Christmas spirit was involved in making them, as the ONLY reason for making them is so the radio stations will all play them at least once a year, and keep the royalties rolling in. And, no, I'm not a grinch. I am a curmudgeon. (For the sake of full disclosure, I do enjoy the Barenaked Ladies version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, which I hardly ever hear. ) (Also, it isn't really Christmas until I hear Lucy and Linus by Vince Guaraldi.) (Also, also, I have a friend from all the way back in grade school, who has a son who is/was dating a girl whose grandfather was one of the composers of Little Drummer Boy. Weird.) I have not listed any particular songs I don't like, because, no matter how much I may dislike them, I know somebody probably loves them. (Despite being a curmudgeon, I've no wish to bum anyone out on Christmas. Life does that plenty without my help.) god jul!
