🚛 TruckSim GPS ◄► Mobile Navigation App 📲 for Euro Truck Simulator 2

Hey everyone, I’m Nico!

I'm quite excited to share this pre-alpha video of TruckSim GPS!
Think about it like Waze or Google Maps on your phone, while you're driving in Euro Truck Simulator 2 (and soon ATS).

This is the first working build, but It isn’t ready to download yet.
I’m checking how much interest there is, if enough people want it I’ll keep building all the way to release.

✅ What's already working:

• Full in-game map rendered live, Waze style

• Real navigation with auto re-route, the first of its kind!

• Smooth touch gestures: Pan, rotate & pinch-to-zoom

• Auto camera follow / re-center

• Indicators for speed, speed-limit and fuel gauge

• Destination info + Distance in km

🛠️ Short roadmap to ALPHA:

• Connection configuration UI (I'm currently testing with my own IP hardcoded)

• Add support for ferry routes in the path-finding algorithm

• 🪲 Fix initialization time (it's taking 1-2 mins to startup, fix in progress)

• 🪲 Fix wonky road junctions in some intersections

• App Store approvals for iOS and Android build testing

Once those steps are done, I’ll share the first Alpha build right here on Patreon to members in the Early Tester and VIP tiers.
Early Tester and VIP tiers will get instant download access, while Supporters and free followers will still get every dev log and can sign up for test invites.

🚛 What's so unique about TruckSim GPS?

There are other apps out there to see the game map while driving, but they have two main issues:

• They don't support navigation. This breaks the purpose of using the app, because you end up having to press F5 to use the in-game map to navigate, thus killing immersion.

• Those apps use pre-rendered images for the maps, so they require a few hundred MB of download for each map and they don't look good (icons can't rotate, etc)

TruckSim GPS supports navigation flawlessly :)
Also, TruckSim GPS renders the map directly on your phone using the Unity game engine and by reading pre-processed raw data from the game. This means:

• The weight for the original Euro Truck map is just 8MB (and it could be compressed even further). No heavy and lengthy downloads, and it opens the door to add all of the DLC maps, and possibly map mods as well.

• Having a custom real-time renderer allows us to do all sorts of crazy things visually. To start with, map icons and city names scale and rotate smoothly while navigating. Also in the future, we could add support for custom color schemes and 3D camera tilting. Heck, we could even let the users customize the road widths and other things that we haven't came up with yet!
