With k being 7th and Sunoo being 8th a lot of people think that ended up happening because everyone thought Sunoo was safe. Throughout the whole show he’d always been good in public vote and people thought others would continue to vote for him so they voted for their 2nd favourite yet everyone had the same mindset so his votes ended up being lesser than usual .
Lots of us also think Sunoo was the produce pick was because his personality is different than the rest of enhypen and they needed a different character. He’d also shown lots of popularity throughout the show and they knew they had to capitalise on that. In the end it all worked out well

At the end when you commented that they were going to start working the next day, you are correct. Enhypen&Hi literally started as soon as the cameras for I-Land turned off. It is a never before or after seen look at what happens after the competition show ended. It really is so revealing and shows how they came to pick a leader, and how fast they went from this show to debut. It was merely 2 months from I-Land to Given-Taken. You should watch the show because it really is amazing to get the insight into a group is formed from a competition show to debut. It is short but really impactful

It made me sad that you said that about Jake and Jay, but I get it, Jake wasn't perfect. However, you have to consider that he trained the least out of all 24 contestants, and he still did better than all those who left, even though they had been trainees for several years. He grew and understood his strengths, and if you look at Enhypen now, he has developed 100 times more than he did in I-LAND. So if you were to ask me if I would swap Jake or Jay for K, I would say no, because they deserved to be there. I'm not saying K didn't deserve it, but I was, and still am, completely satisfied with how Enhypen turned out.

I watched the whole show as it was airing and voted every week; regarding Jungwon ranking 1, you guys described my exact experience. K was my number one favorite the entirety of the show, but as soon as Jungwon was at the bottom I panicked and used all of my votes for him; because come on it’s Jungwon he HAD to debut

Thisss. Along with the facts that 1.) K and other natural leaders in the group would throw off the group dynamic and 2.) HYBE has a thing for forming groups where theres time to grow and transform the members from young ages , with K being 24yo at the time it might've been harder to achieve that... K was greattt but that doesn't mean he should've been in the group esp, being amazing isn't enough unfortunately esp if you don't fit the full vision. the final lineup was perfect

I was there when ILAND was airing in 2020 and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that it was a godsend that K did not make it into Enhypen, not because he isn't talented or didn't deserve it, but because the way he was edited on the second half of the show REALLY ruined his reputation at the time, and people were NOT going to support Enhypen if K made it into the group. From him staring down Sunoo every 3 seconds, taking Ni-ki into that secluded room to scold him, and Heeseung/Jungwon straight up saying they were scared of him, it was just really bad for K and he lost a lot of support due to it. Of course everything is fine now and the enhypen members are really good friends with K and he's thriving in &Team, however there is still a large majority of engenes who do not like K at all and because of him, every time &Team and Enhypen interact or collab, huge fights break out within the fandoms and it's so annoying. It's also because Sunoo is by far the most popular member of Enhypen, and K fans were saying that Sunoo "stole" his spot in the group, so it's just a hot mess and that's why i'm personally glad things went the way that they did bc I don't even wanna imagine the fandom infighting that would've happened otherwise lmao

The producers couldn't have known about the votings since it was live and I'm sure they didn't think Sunoo would be that low considering he was 1st in every global voting up until the final. It was also pretty obvious why they chose Sunoo, K would clash in terms of skill with Heeseung and Ni-ki. K's strength was dance and the group already had amazing dancers, K was basically an all rounder just like Heeseung. Instead of having someone with the same skills that are already going to be covered in the group it made more sense to add something new. Sunoo was more versatile than K when it came to concepts and he added more versatility to the group. We saw that when Sunoo was able to perform both Fake Love and Chamber 5 well despite it being two completely different concepts. K stuck to the same concept throughout the whole show and it was hard seeing him do anything else. Also K wasn't necessarily a winner just because he got 7th in the global voting, the producers made it clear from the start that only the top 6 was going to debut from global votes so if your not top 6 your not safe or a "winner". The producers made the right decision!

This was one hell of a ride from Ep.1 to the finale, but thank you for indulging and giving best reactions all throughout.
About your opinion that Enhypen should've been 8 or 9, so many of I-land fans shared the same sentiment as you, like at the end of the finale, we wished that all of the 9 boys debuted in EN-. But as days went by, we realized that Enhypen will only be just 7. This group, their name, their concept and lore, their webtoon characters, even some of their songs in their debut album were planned even before Be:Lift was created or I-Land was planned. It was just meant to be 7 from the start. There are 7 letters in ENHYPEN and each member corresponds to one letter to the group name.
As for K being highly-eligible to be part of En- but was not chosen, there are many factors why Sunoo was chosen instead of him, eventhough he was #7 in voting and Sn was at 8. There is an age factor, like if you see Enha members now, they are just separated by a year from the oldest member (Hee) to the next (Jay) and so on until Ni-ki (2001-2005). K was kind of more ahead as a 97-liner. I mean for us, that doesn't really matter, but for the producers it did, since it will affect the group dynamics, chemistry, relatability to each other, etc. Speaking of dynamics, since K had some "conflict" with some members on the duration of this show, I personally believe that it also affected his chances.
And the most important reason, individuality and uniqueness of each member. I-land did not really show much of each member's unique charm and potential (but producer did a careful assessment about this), but when they started preparing for their debut, their role in the group was highlighted even further. Jake, for example, didn't have much screentime on this, especially during Part 1 so we did not really see much about his personality or more of his skills, but he had a pivotal role on their debut as the main English speaker, being the narrator of their concepts and album intros, and when they started touring abroad, he was the one leading the group in interviews, the main hype man for the audience, etc. Same with other members, their roles are also well-established as the group grows.
So by those reasons, we kinda see why K was not chosen, because although, he was good, other members already filled in the role for those skills he could offer. For singing, there's Heeseung, Jungwon and pretty much everyone. For dancing, there's already Ni-ki, who was also well-loved in Japan esp.these days. For facial expressions, Sn is already a master in that. Basically, whatever Bang PD and other producers envisioned for Enhypen, the 7 members selected pretty much already fulfilled it perfectly.
And yes, K is perfect in &Team. 😊

As much as I love K, I wouldn’t add him to the group then, and I wouldn’t add him to the group now, in no way do I hold this against him to this day, but having issues with both heeseung and ni-ki in i-land, heeseung saying he found it difficult to talk to him, and the whole issue with ni-ki, his age played a huge roll in everything and it just didn’t work in many scenarios. Even though all the issues had been resolved, him debuting in &team was the best choice, and I feel like bang pd also knew since the middle of I-land what he was going to do with K. Yes K is talented and a lot of people were mad when Sunoo debuted over K, but when it come down to it, Sunoo had something that K and the rest of them didn’t. So why debut K, who would be in a similar position to heeseung, over Sunoo who would be adding something different to the group? Enhypen have a close brotherhood, and their age gaps not being that drastic, makes them a lot closer. Enhypen being my favourite group in kpop, and K being my bias in &team, I wouldn’t change anything about the way the lineup was decided, enhypen remains the best lineup from a survival show💗

I felt like K thought that it was all over considering his age and how lots of companies don't really debut a lot of people at that age group now ('97 liner like Jungkook) so I was very happy that he ended up debuting with Taki in &TEAM
