in this story, jeonghan is a ‘this man’ who loses someone he loves and bc of that pain, he starts conjuring them up in his mind, ignoring the reality that they’re gone, he keeps imagining them (let’s call them A as referred to in the audiobook) and creates them repeatedly in his mind, however every time he does this, A’s image eventually gets distorted (bc none of this is real) and to ignore this reality, he covers A up with a white sheet. entire buildings are covered up in white sheets in the mv which suggests just HOW many times he’s made A up in his head! one day A runs away and so he starts to look for his creation in other people’s dreams, which is why he’s making people fall asleep, he whispers in their ears, promising them happiness, when they agree, he makes them see their happiest dream repeatedly and that’s when he enters their subconscious and looks for his creation. when that happens the lights in that person’s house turns off/electronics stop working etc in the mv you can see that room of people in beds sleeping, this is like his ‘collection’ of minds, where he’s looking for A. the doors in the mv are symbolising the doors of dreams he’s entering! the other ‘this man’ is wonwoo, someone who protects the city and when people have trouble sleeping, he lulls them into a blissful sleep. in the start of the mv he overhears two women talking about ‘this man’ who he originally thought was about him, bc sometimes people remember him when he soothes them to sleep, but one thing stuck with him, the women saying that ‘this man’ promises things to them, that’s when he realises somethings up. he notices that bc of jeonghan’s actions, the lights are turning off everywhere, the people of the city are fading away in their sleep, they are not waking up at all, (they can only feel happiness in their dreams but happiness being the only emotion you feel will also eventually end you), wonwoo finds that room of people in beds and wakes them up, jeonghan is visibly losing his mind in the mv, his fake reality is crumbling bc of wonwoo. wonwoo finds jeonghan and puts him to sleep too, defeating him by saving him from himself! its such a beautiful story!!! i especially love how when jeonghan accepted his defeat and fell to his knees, the white sheet fell off the building too😭😭it’s really interesting and honestly the best concept i’ve seen in a long time! do check out the audiobook if you have time, it’s read by jeonghan and wonwoo and it’s absolutely amazing
