Design Decision : Golem Weapon
Added 2020-07-13 17:44:22 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
Here is an early WIP of the golem! I am starting to think of what weapon I should give him. I was leaning towards a cannon, but what do you think?
I don't want the golem to look too much like a guy in a suit of armor, so the weapon will like become one of his arms. Look below to see the cannon example I attached ^_^

How I'd plan to implement the cannon.

Hope you have a lovely start to your week!
Best!

2020-07-13 21:42:44 +0000 UTCI love the integrated cannon idea, especially if the decorative base could have a little cluster of some well-battered cannon balls at his feet :)

2020-07-13 20:56:38 +0000 UTCI think a flail of some sort would be dope! With the chains wrapping up the arm and under the armor, becoming part of it.

2020-07-13 20:21:42 +0000 UTCIf doing a cannon, may I suggest the addition of some crystal accents or runes on the cannon itself. Assuming this golem is not clockwork, then it stands to reason it runs on magic. With that in mind, a cannon, in the traditional sense, requires ammunition to operate. The left arm would load ammunition, and the right arm (cannon) would fire it. If there is no ammunition, or it is hard to come by, (which in magical days it might be) then arcane energy could be used to power the "cannon" instead. This would require some sort of enchantment on the cannon itself or a power source for the cannon (runes or a crystal (one large or many small) respectively). This could be as simple as a large jagged crystal "fused" to the back of the cannon, to something as complex as intricate engravings along the cannon's barrel. Just some thoughts that could help instill, in the model itself, it's reality/practicality in the world. P.s. if magic is not to be used, and ammunition is, a small bag/satchel on its back or side would be a worthy addition as it would need a place to store its "balls"................................. cannon balls of course.
