June's Life Cycle Miniature : The Tarrasque!
Added 2020-06-01 21:49:53 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
First really quick, the rewards post has been updated for June here.
TLDR; Reward links are coming tomorrow and a list of June's upcoming models.
Moving along, the very first life cycle monster is here and it is going to be the Tarrasque! I'm excited to make this incredible and I truly want a ton of feedback from you. I always like to hear from you, but this concept especially I think will do best with several creative minds coming together. Link pictures, imagine scenarios, whatever you'd like!
LIFE CYCLE OVERVIEW
STAGE ONE : Egg
STAGE TWO: Young Adult
STAGE THREE: Ancient
STAGE FOUR: Dead
DETAILED OVERVIEW
STAGE ONE: Egg
I am thinking a standard dragon looking egg the size of a watermelon or so. It would be in a nest with no signs of damage. I'd either do a traditional scale patterning of something more intricate like the art shown below.

STAGE TWO: Young Adult
This stage would already be incredibly fearsome, but without much wear and tear and some room to grow. The carapace would be clearly formed but not fully grown. They aren't terribly intelligent anyway, but at this stage the tarrasque hasn't mastered all its attacks yet.

STAGE THREE: Ancient Tarrasque
The tarrasque is fully grown and battle hardened with scars to prove it. The model will be riddled with signs of wear and tear but it'll add to it's ferocity rather than look worn down.

*UPDATE* STAGE FOUR: Undead or Skeleton
My first normal thought for the end of a life cycle mini is a dead mini, but that doesn't make much sense given the lore of the tarrasque.
Suggestions have been given for an undead version or perhaps a skeleton/skull piece for scatter terrain. Let me know what you think!
Best!

Just going to throw my support for baby instead of egg. I also like undead, though I think a long-dead corpse/skeleton would also be good for "dead." Either way, I was very excited to see this as the first one!

2020-06-02 18:50:29 +0000 UTCI think some people are getting the scale wrong just a bit. 10 inches tall by 14 inches long for a standard 1" grid scale.

2020-06-02 14:47:04 +0000 UTCThe tarrasque (pronounced: /tɑːˈræsk/ tah-RÆSK[6][7]) was the most terrible creature known to inhabit the Prime Material Plane. The beast was a full 50 feet (15 meters) tall and 70 feet (21 meters) long[8] quadruped with a long tail, reflective carapace, and two large horns on its head.[9
2020-06-02 14:46:50 +0000 UTCI would prefer baby than egg and udead than dead. I think miniatures are much better than this kind of terrain. And campaign related to Terrasgue life cycle would be great. If undead isn't option I would prefer egg, baby, adult, ancient
2020-06-02 11:57:51 +0000 UTCI think 'skeleton (pieces)' rather than 'undead' for the final stage - given the size relative to a human, the skull alone is going to be an awesome bit of terrain, and a full skeleton could easily fill a couple of square feet of tabletop!

2020-06-02 06:48:23 +0000 UTCSo for the dead tarrasque, this is a leviathan. I think it would be more in keeping with the epic nature if you showed it merged with a rocky background, conveying a sense of "it laid down and the mountain grew around it". Maybe it's not even dying/dead in the traditional sense, but returning to the earth that gave it form. I don't think an undead tarrasque, though maybe visually cool, makes much sense. For the birth stage, I don't see an egg doing it justice. Again, maybe more of a newt form bursting(birthing) directly from the earth rather than a shell, to distinguish it from simply a dragon's lifecycle. A force of nature.

2020-06-02 06:27:36 +0000 UTCJust a bit of fun knowledge from an old grognard, but one of the surest ways to kill a terrasque was to drown it. At least in 3.x. But I do like the mid-regeneration idea.

2020-06-02 04:30:13 +0000 UTCI love the undead idea. Someting even harder to throw at players!

2020-06-02 04:13:37 +0000 UTCYou are correct. In 5E lore a tarrasque is a one of a kind creature that doesn't die (or is not supposed too). So a battle worn mid-regeneration tarrasque would be super dope!

2020-06-02 03:41:53 +0000 UTCBrilliant! Lore wise, if I remember correctly, there is one ever one tarrasque in existence at a time (please correct if I'm getting my lore confused), so the regenerating idea is HEAPS better than a Skeletarrasque in that regard.

2020-06-02 03:01:57 +0000 UTCLoving the baby tarrasque idea, and maybe fore the skeletal/undead look - what if it's something along the lines of it in the process of regenerating?

2020-06-02 00:44:53 +0000 UTCThe full sized Tarrasque would be about 210mm tall and about 292mm long. While im up for printing that and would LOVE it. I think having different sizes or telling people what % they will need to add or subtract from it. It would need to be printed in parts which should make the supports a lot easier and who knows maybe movable limbs on it.

2020-06-02 00:38:50 +0000 UTCI like the eggs and think a youngling would be great too, I cry at most Disney movies so seeing the dead creature after the others may make me sad, so maybe an old weathered creature close to death? Lol
