Some Bad News *Please Read*

Hi everyone!

My desktop died. I was answering some emails and it suddenly turned off. Unfortunately it won't turn back on again.  The warranty is good, though it doesn't cover the expenses to have someone come check it out. I opted to pay since the alternative was shipping my computer to Lenovo with a minimum of 2 weeks wait. Another good reason to have savings! haha

On the plus side, I use Dropbox for almost everything and regularly back things up. That does not include the water elemental I made yesterday sadly... It is on the hard drive, but if I get into the computer now it will void the warranty so I will need to wait before I try and recover the file.

Long story short, the water elemental and some others may be coming later than promised. I deeply apologize for the disappointment. They were supposed to come this Friday, but now it may be the first week of March.

The three greater elementals (fire, wind, earth) will be released this Friday! I have enough saved to rework in time for release.

Best!

Oh hi Sullivan! Thank you, and I hope so too!

I hope so too! Also very grateful that I didn't lose much~

M3DM

Aw thank you! I really appreciate your understanding ^_^

M3DM

Ditto! I'm grateful it wasnt worse!

M3DM

I agree! I got one yesterday ^_^

M3DM

Thanks for being understanding!

Just a suggestion, You might want to invest in a external harddrive, to save or back up your work. I switch to saving all my business file to external harddrives after the drive crashed on my computer several years back

Robert Mitchell

No worries! This can happen.

Noah Sager

I hope so too! Thanks!

M3DM

Yes its heartbreaking to lose a ton of 3D files and info, hope you get them all back.

(SuislideSullivan on YouTube) Stuff happens, no one can put any blame on you for a hardware failure. It will take however long it needs to take. Hope the repair is a cheap and easy one. 95% of the time your data is safe when computers decide to go belly up.

Jacques Lebo

That's a bummer :( good that you use cloud based storage though for protection! Hopefully it's something simple and they can get up and running quickly.

Robert Large

Bad news... All the more reason to build from parts, not buy pre-built. Hope it works out well!

Jonathan Murray

So sorry to hear that Mia! And I am sure that we would all understand if we have to pushback the water elemental. After all, as they say, good things are worth the wait.

Shane May

hope everything works out! I hate losing data.

Brad Hopwood

Me too! Thanks Sean ^_^

M3DM

Oh so sorry to hear this, hoping the fix is cheap and easy.

Sean Abel

A lot of other people said similar things which is awesome! I appreciate it ^_^ Thank you!

M3DM

That is really nice to hear <3 Thank you for the info!

I'd say either Power Supply, or Motherboard. Motherboard is more tricky for sure, but can be done without too much trouble. Either way, your data "should" be safe on it, and there should be no reason that you should lose your data or have to reinstall Windows or anything.

Derrick Miles

The little LED on the power button lights up for about 10 seconds, then turns off. No other activity. I hope it is that simple! I'll keep yall posted ^_^

M3DM

Me too! Thanks for being supportive like always ^_^

M3DM

As others have said, sounds like it's probably a PSU issue, which is pretty easily rectified. The only other scenario I can think off off hand would be a fried motherboard, which is a more complicated and involved fix, but in theory your HDD should still be fine/safe. If it's warranty covered then shouldn't really matter and you should be golden eventually

Eric moss

What's it do when you try to power it on? If it isn't doing anything (no signs of power, no attempt at a boot up, nothing shows up on the screen), then it's probably a bad power supply. Provided it's a normal-ish sized computer case, replacing the power supply can be fairly cheap ($40-$60) and easy to do.

Derrick Miles

Ah crap, so sorry to hear that Mia! No worries at all about release dates. I really hope things are easy to repair and inexpensive and mostly that you haven't lost any of your work.
