Witcher Contract: The Katakan

Months. Not days, not even weeks, but months! Months Ciri had been hunting a particularly evil Katakan that had been carving up the residents of both Oxenfurt and nearby villages - no one was safe from this beast. Whether it was prowling the streets of Oxenfurt, praying on the poor ladies of the night or the highborn going to church the following morning, its hunger was never satisfied.

Ciri had found the contract on her travels a few months ago, not releasing at the time the ordeal this Vampire turned out to be. After tracking it down to its lair just days after accepting the contract from the head of the town guard, Ciri thought she had the beast dead and cornered. However, as what would be the first sign of this particular Katakan’s intelligence, it laid a trap for the witcher. And just as Ciri realised what had happened, she sprung the trap. Toxic gas filled the cavern. To any normal human or even an inexperienced witcher this poison would have been fatal. Yet Ciri was trained by the best and was able to teleport out of the cave before she breathed too much in.

This pattern would repeat itself all too often. Ciri would track the cunning Vampire down, it would set a trap, Ciri would spring it and it would escape only for the cycle to continue. As Ciri chased the Katakan down, she came to the conclusion that this vampire was enjoying the chase - taking pleasure from it. If Geralt had encountered a creature as cunning and devious such as she was hunting, how would he catch it? No matter how close she got to separating the Katakan’s head from its body, it would always slip away and the hunt continued.

Throughout the hunt, Ciri had picked up some of the vampire's habits - its desires and pleasures. For example, it was fond of the female form. Most of its victims were female - the men were not so fortunate - but some of its victims were not killed by the beast, but ravaged! Some of the women even told Ciri afterwards that they enjoyed it and spoke of the Katakan’s large manhood. The thought of which gave Ciri some odd feelings, ones that she pushed aside…for now. Whereas the womenfolk would fare better, the men weren’t so lucky. Whereas most beasts fear the primal destruction of fire, this one loved it! So much so that it would set its male victims alight and let their corpses burn bright for all to see.

Slaying this beast the usual way would not work, therefore Ciri had to resort to different methods. Luring the fiend out and distracting it would be her best bet. But how she would achieve this was another question as all traditional methods of herbs, oils and even prey proved fruitless.

Just as all seemed lost, Ciri had the idea that not only seemed the best way to trap the monster, but sate her desires that had been growing the more she heard about how the Katakan pleasured its victims. If this vampire was allured by the scent of a female in heat, then she could trap it in a remote area, distract it and then…off with its head, after Ciri had her fun with it of course. After all the tales, she had to know if it was just as good as all the womenfolk said.
