Patreon Update 31/01/24

Hey everyone! Here is an update to the Patreon yay! Please give it a little bit of time before it's available. I hope you enjoyed the little catch up, and please let me know if you prefer the shorter content that is easier to record at a more frequent cadence. Or if you would prefer the longer content with the history focus, that is fine too. Please give me your thoughts!

Also - if you ever feel like the Patreon has been a waste of money, or if you aren't getting your money's worth, please let me know. We can arrange a refund via Paypal if you are unhappy with the quality.

Thanks for listening!

Apologies for the late reply, I try to give these updates my full attention, and that's been...uh...lacking of late. Finally found the time to properly listen and take notes today. Firstly, congratulations on the new dog! I know it's late, and we've already seen pics and heard the dog and you've been getting chewed on, but even so. I've had dogs and cats my whole life, and only recently been without since my apartment isn't really pet friendly, and it's definitely been a loss. Hopefully Lotte settles in and gets to be a cherished member of your household. The merchandise thing is such a catch-22. I feel like a small batch of custom goods is easier to make/justify, but not a huge profit margin, so they want a large batch, but that's hard to find the interest for. It's possible you might have more luck hitting up a reputable shop on Etsy or some such (where they'd just be made to order for the people who ordered), but I'm not sure if that's worth your time and energy, especially if it's already thin. I've also seen crowdfunding sites for products before, but almost always tech, not clothing, so I'm not sure if it'd work for that. Either way, sorry if it's been a mental burden. Hopefully it happens someday, but if not, I'm sure folks can understand. Regarding the contract stuff, that's...hard. I think it takes a very specific kind of personality to be able to walk into a room, convinced of their own worth, and just browbeat everyone else into paying them for that. For everyone else in the world, it's a tough balancing act to not undervalue one's self, to properly weigh the pros and cons of an offer, and to try and divine the affect on the future. I've never been good at it, and it sounds like it's not been easier on you. So, I'm sorry it's been such a drag, and hopefully you get past the mentally/emotionally draining part, and can either complete the deals, or walk away from them, and get back to the part you enjoy doing more. There was a brief interlude about someone shit talking, and I totally get if you don't want to stir the pot, especially if it's dying down. That said, should you ever face a situation where it is _NOT_ dying down, and you'd like folks to help push a counter-narrative, I don't think that's out of line. Rarely do public figures or companies allow people to just run roughshod all over them without at least offering a thought out counterpoint. I can understand if you just don't have the spoons for it right now, but like I said, if it ever becomes an issue, I'm sure there are supporters of yours that'd be willing to go to bat. With the medical stuff, obviously I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's an all-clear again for that, and hopefully dentist and optometrist too. New glasses because you want them is fun, new glasses because you need them is maybe less ideal. Either way, I hope all the health and well-being things go well for you. Not to over nanny, but if you're not already seeing to your mental health as well, it's a good thing to invest in. Speaking of investing, you'd mentioned the above hitting you in the pocket book a bit. Totally understandable if you need to scale back some of the game purchases and/or more expensive activities and recover. I think most folks can understand that, the economy hasn't been particularly kind to anyone who isn't in the top 10% or so. Moving on to the bits about the model and rigging. So. I'm not a VTuber, though I do work in technology, and have a partner in the art world. I feel as though some of the problems you're describing are wholly related to working with...well...non-professionals, or at least people who aren't serious about making this their primary business. I don't mean anything ill by that, only that they ought to be providing you a time frame and sticking to it. If they're not providing a time frame (and it isn't because of something _you_ did, like not having the model ready or some such), then it feels like they're treating this like a hobby, and not a job. Again, not a bad thing if they want a paying hobby, but like...maybe you should be seeking out a professional rigger who will do what it asked and give you firm timing. Otherwise, if not that, maybe look into friends/friends-of-friends who will jump _you_ to the front as opposed to non-friends who jump others. Sadly, the only rigger I know is one who does it for video games, not VTubers, so they could help with a 3D model, but not Live2D. I'll put out feelers just in case though, maybe someone knows someone I can refer you to. In any case. I'm sure people can wait on the model front, much as it'd be fun to see Clio with a new look, I imagine most of us are there for...Clio the person, not the outfits or model. Otherwise you'd have more people banging on about using the Diablo model during Just Chatting. ANYWAY. That's a whole lot of blah blah, isn't it? Hopefully things are calming down a little and you're getting some time to yourself. Thanks for taking the time to update us, and I appreciate the candidness with which you approach these. Wishing you all the luck and success, as always.

Thank you for this update! I'm sorry to hear that there has been so much stress lately. It is hard when there is so much uncertainty with some of the issues you talked about. I don't know if I can give any advice about the contract stuff but it does sound like a lot of work! I hope everything goes well with the yearly medical check! It's sad that the health system is going downhill right now. I would have suggested going with a health fund to help cover some costs(like dental) but they don't cover private MRIs in Australia and may not be worth the cost. I feel kind of bad dropping my patreon pledge to the basic tier over the last few months as I have also run into some extra unexpected expenses. That being said, I will try to support you like all your hagstorians do! This short patreon update was very welcome as I sometimes miss out on stream due to life commitments! Please do take some time for self-care! It's nice to see that you are taking more breaks from streaming. Hag Love!

Thank you for the update Clio. Can't wait to hear the puppy in the background. After my cat passed away friends of mine offered me one of their litter at the end of last year. At first I didn't want her but they insisted I try it. She really helped me move forward again and is now always there to bother me. Will have to see about getting any merch stuff, cause I have issues with uwumarket itself, besides the high prices and shipping. I can't really say much about the contract stuff, but I am wishing you all the best and if you need some time of for something then take it! You are streaming so much you really don't have any breaks. Hope everything goes well with all your medical stuff. Sad to hear about the wait time for your new model, but we got Clio 1.5, so that is already good enough for me and there is something to look forward to. And with the moneys worth stuff: I knew what I was getting into when I started to become a member for the streamer where 8 hour streams are the short ones.
