Idea for new gameplay

I've been thinking about a new gameplay mechanic to add some depth to the game, and I would like your input on it.

I would like to know what you guys think about it. If you have any other suggestions for a new gameplay system or to pimp up this one I'm proposing, feel free to share them!

Character cards have a new base stat depending on the rarity; Stamina.
Stamina is a decreasing attribute. You must attack whitin that number of turn. Once it reaches zero, your play area gets cleared.
Excitement is an increasing attribute. Once filled, it lets you play a finisher card to attempt to remove a life from your opponent.
You can still attack an opponent if the excitement meter is not full. In that case, if the attack is successful, the opponent’s main card and duo card are discarded and his excitement is lowered. If not successful, you lose every card on your side, except your Character cards.
These 2 new attributes can be nerfed or buffed with items and new abilities.
Duo card adds stamina as well. The duo zone must be activated via an item before being able to place a Character card.

I think this is an improvement over the current system, I think even a small test build with these changes would be ideal so we can get a feel for it. Currently, it's pretty easy to just wipe the board for wins with the only item card that matters is the one that discards the oppenents main card. I feel like this system removes that, as the win condition is moved over to the excitment meter. Again, I feel like you should just go for it as how it feels in play is better than in theory, but overall I feel like this is an upgrade to the current system.
