“And that is how I came to live in Gallensburg. I was about to move on before I knew such an important and wonderful lady lived there.” Sarah put her fingers in her ears, causing Ashely to giggle.
“Something wrong?” Alex tightened his grip around her neck. “You seem a little. . .”
“Annoyed?” She looked at Alex. “Why did you have to come along again?”
Alex sighed. “Why do I get the feeling you don’t like me that much?”
“Because I—
Jessebel tugged at Sarah’s hair. “Hey. Come on now, this isn’t going to get us to my home any faster.” She snorted. “Now, I don’t like having to have you giant ladies carry me across the country as much as you two don’t like going to my hometown. But if I have to listen to any more belly acking, I am going to start kicking you in the ear.”
Sarah snorted. “You act like that, and I can just drop you onto the pavement below, little one.”
Jessebel’s face turned red. “I am not little!”
Sarah laughed. “You sure seem small to me.”
“Go easy on the girl, Sarah. She did give up her size to come find us.”
Sarah sighed. “Ya, I guess I am being a tad harsh, aren’t I? I am just stressed out going back to this damn town, okay? And having to help people who stole blood from me.”
Jessebel sighed. “We talked about this. We wouldn’t have done it if there was any other way. Now we are giving you the choice on how you help that boy.”
Sarah nodded her head. “And I understand that. I am going to help him, but I will watch you. All of you.” She sighed. “And when we get there, I am having a talk with Karren. She can’t just use my blood without my permission.”
“Wait! What are you saying.” Jessebel pulled at Sarah’s hair. “You can’t make me be this height for the rest of my life! You just can’t!”
Sarah snorted. “Calm down. I didn’t say no. I just said I am going to lay down some ground rules. I don’t want a fucking repeat of what happened right before my wedding.” She smiled at Ashely. “Especially in case something like that were ever to happen again.” Ashely blushed.
“Darling, I am sure you will eventually have another wedding. But you can’t rush it.”
Sarah laughed. “Yeah. Maybe someday.”
Alex sighed. “Look, how long until we reach this wonderful city filled with giantesses? Not that I am complaining or that you two are well. . .” He looked up at the sun beating down on them. “But an entire city? It just boggles the mind.”
“We should be there soon. Don’t you worry?” Sarah looked around at the endless stretches of pine trees. “We are finally in the upper peninsula after all.” She lowered her voice. “Not that I ever wanted to come back here.” The last time she was here, she had been kidnapped by the giantess hunters and taken to their headquarters, which was not far from where Karren now calls home. Sarah understands why the area was their home. Karren had run those freaks out of their hidey hole and claimed the town as their sanctuary, daring anyone to try and stop them. But still, considering all of the horrible things that had happened there, including Fredrick experimenting on her, she didn’t want to come back here.
“I think I can see the town.” Jessebel stood up. “We are almost home!”
“Sit down, or you might fall off.” Sarah forced the young woman into a sitting position. “You are our ticket into that town, so I don’t want you falling to your death because you became impatient.” As they approached the town, multiple giant women appeared and started walking toward them. Sarah noticed just how. . . normal looking the buildings were. “They are really making everything our size, aren’t they?”
A giant lady who made Sarah and Ashely look puny held out her hand. “Hold it! Who the hell are you two?” She narrowed her eyes as she noticed the tiny figures on their shoulders. “And why do you bring smalls with you?”
Jessebel jumped to her feet once again. “Hey, Jane. Long time no see!”
The giant lady narrowed her eyes. “Jessebel? Who the hell shrunk you? When I find out—”
“I did so I could bring back the legendary Sarah. Ta-da.”
Jane looked at Sarah. “Hmm. Really? Just looks like some random lady to me.”
Sarah walked within inches of Jane. “You better believe my name is Sarah. Don’t you dare call me a liar either, as I have short-ass patience with you people. If you hadn’t done what you did, Carien would still be—”
Ashely pulled Sarah back. “Whoh now daring remember why we came here. We are not here to antagonize the giantesses.”
Sarah took a deep breath. “Right. Right.” She set Jessebel on Ashely’s shoulders. “I do remember. I just. . . lost my—” Sarah suddenly spun around, her hand in a fist. She punched Jane in the jaw, sending the woman falling to the ground. “Fuck it. I can’t take it. My lovely wife would still be alive if it wasn’t for all of you.”
Jane rubbed her chin and slowly stood up. “That was a mistake bitch.” Strong hands gripped Sarah’s shoulders. “You are about to find out what we do with—
“Jane! Stop!”
Jane turned her head as Karren walked towards them. “Stop? This little runt just punched me crying about her wife. I never met the bitch.”
“I said stop! Now, why don’t you head to the mountainside river? Some of our other residences have reported some vandalism.”
“Again!” She snorted. “This is the third time today.” She ran her hands through her hair. “I am getting sick and tired of this. When I find out which one among us that is fucking with our way of life that we have worked so hard to create!”
Sarah watched the woman go. “You know I don’t care that you helped me.” She pointed her finger at Karren. “I feel the same way about you!”
Karren smiled. “I get that. We ambushed you and stole what is yours.”
“No! Because of what you did here, the government came and disrupted my wedding. My wife, Carien, died trying to save me!” Tears were rolling down Sarah’s eyes. “This little stunt up here ruined my life!”
“And yet you came here.”
“I came because there is a young man who deserves help. I didn’t do it for you or any other giantesses living here. You all have . . . ughh.” She slammed her foot down. “I just. . .”
Karren took a deep breath. “How about we just start helping Fredricks’s son? Alex.”
The old man on Ashely’s shoulder perked up. “The boy shares my name? Can I call him junior?”
Sarah glanced at Ashely. “Can you take him for a walk? A long walk?”
Ashely nodded her head. “Of course, darling.” She began to make her way further into the town. “Now come on. Let’s show you around. Besides, we have to get Jessebel back to her home.”
Alex looked like a kid in a candy store. “Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.”
Karren sighed. “Who the hell is that?”
“Someone who thinks they are my father.” Sarah rubbed the bridge of her nose. “I wish I could tell him to go jump in a lake. I just. . . when I thought I. . .” She blinked her eyes. “Why am I talking about this with you? Let’s just go see Fredricks’s son already.” Sarah followed Karren to a section of normal-sized buildings in the middle of the town. “What you haven’t torn these town yet?”
Karren leaned against the nearby giant-sized wall. “No. Not only is one of the buildings here housing Fredrick’s son, but the others are also homes for the ladies who are waiting to become giantesses themselves. We can’t just turn on a light switch and have them grow just because we have your blood.” Sarah sneered. “I am sorry. Am I allowed to say that?” Karren crossed her arms.
“It’s fine.”
“Well, we use a mixture of small drops of your blood and the super moon to have our ladies become who they are.”
“Ah, yes. The super moon. I remember that. You don’t grow any bigger during it, do you?”
Karren shook her head. “Not that we have noticed. But we are careful not to overexpose ourselves just to make sure.” She looked in the direction Jen had walked off to. “Some of us would love to grow even bigger, but there are some sizes that shouldn’t be crossed.”
That wasn’t something that Sarah had expected to hear. “Well then. Which house is the young boy in?” Karren pointed at one near Sarah’s left foot.
“In there.” Karren sighed. “And if you don’t mind, we would like to use your blood to experiment and try to stabilize him.”
“You finally get to the point.” Sarah arches an eyebrow. “Are you sure helping him is all you want my blood for?”
“Well, we would love it if you donated some of it to us. We don’t exactly. . . have unending supplies. It isn’t like there are other real giantesses out there.”
“Right. . .” Sarah didn’t like people using that term around her. She was still very unsure of who she was and where she came from after her talk with her parents. Was she truly supposed to be a giantess? This didn’t make much sense to her outside of—
“Karren. We have a problem.” Jane walked up to them.
“Jane, I think it’s the kind of problem that can wait until after our business is settled.”
Jane’s arm wrapped around Karren’s wrist. “No, it can’t. Now come on!”
“Hey!”
Sarah didn’t know what was happening but wasn’t about to be left behind. She followed the two giant ladies to the northern end of the town, where over a dozen giantesses stood in a circle. They were surrounding a tiny woman. Karren looked down at the lady, who didn’t seem to be conscious. “Luna?” Karren knelt down next to the woman. “What happened to Luna?”
Jane shook her head. “We found her just a bit north of here. She was shrunk down, and something was written into the earth. Stop playing pretend, or the next lady won’t just end up in a comma.”
Karren’s eyes flared with rage. “Pretend? Who the hell is out there threatening us?” She walked to the edge of the town’s borders. “Well? Show yourself? How dare you threaten my girls!” The chill air was silent.
Sarah walked to her. “Karren?”
“What!” She held her hands over her mouth. “I am sorry. I just. . . ughh.”
“What in the world is going on around here?”
Karren looked over at Jane. “Take Luna into the center of town and have Jessebel look over her until Becky gets back.” Jane nodded her head. “The rest of you fan out and see about who did this.” The others dashed off into the trees.”
“Karren!”
The giant woman sighed. “I am sorry. Soon after I made my declaration to the world, someone started threatening us. I thought it was Ben but. . . it was strange. Jane told me she saw massive footprints around town. I have kept it quiet as I think it’s someone in this town trying to cause. . .” She rubbed her forehead. “I want a place where people can be happy, and people are just causing more problems. And I have a giantess blood shortage as well.” She started to cry. “I just. . . I just. . .”
“So, Luna. . .”
“She may never be able to return to being a giantess.”
“If I don’t do something.” Sarah turned around. “And if I don’t do something, Alex will continue to suffer.”
“I am sorry to put so much pressure on you, especially after everything we did. But—”
Sarah turned around. “I will help on one condition. Ashely and I figure out who is doing this to you.” She snorted. “So, you take as little blood from me as you need for the time being, and I get to see how you are using it.” She looked Karren in the eyes. “Before we discuss anything down the line. I want to make sure you are living up to your word.”
Karren nodded her head. “Of course. Whatever you say.”
