Making the most ridiculous renaissance pants!

Based on the response to the teaser in my last post, you guys are just as excited about these as I am lol!

These were an impromptu project inspired by a new book, and a recent fabric purchase. They went together really quickly and easily - one evening to draft, two days to sew, and one morning to stitch the eyelets. Which is a miracle, since they are completely different from anything I've made before, and pretty complicated to construct!

I ended up enjoying the process a lot (probably in part to it going so smoothly) and I LOVE the finished product. The pants are so ridiculous, they make me want to do a little dance.

I think there are more renaissance pants in my future, given how much I like these. Luckily this book has TONS of additional fashion plates/paintings to use for inspiration. Here are some of my favorites...

My favorite part of women's renaissance costumes are the sleeves. And these ensembles require the same techniques and have the same details...but from head-to-toe! I find them so delightful, I want to make all of them.

But I should probably finish a jacket to go with these pants, first. So stay tuned for that!
