Update for patrons on 2022/23 season

Dear Friend of MI,

With my head finally above water, I wanted to share a much-needed update about what's been up of late with MEDIA INDIGENA.

For those who can't wait 'til the next episode drops, it's no doubt been a disappointing time of late, and for that, I must apologize. I must also account.

Without overloading you with details, events of the past few months have greatly affected my capacity to consistently produce the program; chief among them, the recent passing of my mother's husband. As anyone with experience in this area knows, such an event blows a massive hole in one's everyday routines, never mind their longer-term plans. It's been an exceedingly trying time for everyone, my elderly mother especially, whose welfare has been an all-consuming responsibility for me and the rest of the family.

Thus explains the radio silence of late from our end. And by 'our,' I mostly mean me, the person who singlehandedly hosts, produces, edits and markets the show these days. Try as I might to weather the storm, I have simply been unable to do everything that's needed doing, and it's provoked much personal stress and anxiety.

And so, with extraordinary circumstances demanding a correspondingly extraordinary response, it's all led me to the reluctant yet inescapable conclusion that, as of this next episode, MEDIA INDIGENA's current season must come to a premature end. Which means, as of this next episode, we'll have delivered on just eighteen of the 24 all-new episodes we promised you for 2022/23, and for that I must once again apologize, even as I see no alternative.

(Now, on a somewhat hopeful note, by drawing this season to an early close, it likely makes our summer series—work on which was well underway before everything around me fell apart—that much more feasible. Details on that to follow.)

Thank you, dear listener, for your ongoing patronage of the show: I’ve always said we'll never take it for granted. Should these latest developments and adjustments lead you to reconsider that support, I wouldn't necessarily fault you for wanting to shift your support to a much more active outlet. Your investment helped us get this far, and for that I’ll always be grateful.

I appreciate you reading this all the way through: such a tough decision has itself been tough to communicate, and while I know I have made the right call to put the wellbeing of me and my loved ones first, no-one’s sadder than I to have fallen short on our promise to you all this season.

Be well,

Rick
