Some of you are family, some lifelong friends; some of you are strangers who stumbled upon me on Twitter. However you came to support my endeavors and journey, even if it was only for a limited time, I wanted to take a moment as we approach this holiday devoted to giving thanks to express my profound gratitude for your backing.
As I’ve said many times before here—I have worked hard for every dollar I’ve ever made and it humbles me that you would choose to share your resources with me. In the past year you’ve truly given me wings, encouragement and a base income that allows me to take greater risks, push myself into new arenas I never thought I’d have the guts to enter and manifest ideas that only seemed like silly pipe dreams.
You’ve given me permission to be fully myself--the good, the bad and the sensual. I’ve shared my lowest moments here as well as my successes but what has been the most rewarding and beautiful has been watching members of this tiny little community supporting one another through sicknesses, hardships, deaths and in recovery.
As much as I joke about safe spaces, that’s what “Phetasyland” is and what I have always intended it to be: A place online where people feel free to be authentic and vulnerable without fear, a place to give love and receive love, a place to vent safely about politics and culture without fear of losing your job or getting dragged, a place we can share our desire to be better, motivated and disciplined and our failure to do so. A place to laugh at the absurdity of modern life and ourselves. A place to process incomprehensible tragedy.
I merely created this wonderful little nook in the backwaters of the internet—it is you, my beloved Patrons, who have populated it and made it the magical little cranny that it is.
You’re so special to me. Thank you for reminding me every single day that kindness, love and generosity are all around me and in fact, they are in abundance.
Your support motivates me to do better and be better and I only hope I give back a fraction of the inspiration to you—that you give to me.
